Cory weighing up burden to shoulder: Battling Paterson looks at surgery

Injuiry

I strongly disagree with players needling up before every game and that shoulder seems to really be taking its toll on him especially his involvement in games. Id like to see him go under the knife and get it sorted even if it does mean he's out for the season. At least then he will be able to return next season as the player we all know he can be.

The only problem with this is that Rick Stone is forced to keep Paterson on the field due to the ongoing injuries to Steve Simpson. It really is a snowballing effect, especially after losing Marvin Karawana & Chris Houston at the start of the year. :boohoo:

thats another reason why i hate to say it but unfortunatly hope simpson retires at the end of the season

Hope he gets through this OK, but in actual fact, he has been doing stuff all on the field lately so it is no big loss really. I wish Karawana wasn't injured we could really use him right now.

he has to go under the knife and get an operation. He will be back bigger and better next year if he does. Even when his been getting needles, he said his confidence in really suffering, so i would personally like to see it done, even if it means he is out for the year.

I don't think there's much to weigh up. If this is the reason why his form has been below what we know it can be, then he has to go under the knife. There's no point playing at 80%, it's not fair to the team or himself. It makes him look bad on the field and in turn having a passenger out there makes it harder for us as well.

Cory will be back bigger and better next year so he shouldn't delay it any longer.

no **** jockey so that we can use the money that we pay him to sit on the sideline to sign someone who strings together a few games same reason i hope maddog retires even though i have alot of love for both of them i personally think its whats best for the team, would love it if they would stick around at the club and be mentors to impart a bit of there experience etc to the younger fitter guys that we should get to replace them.

I think he should get the surgery. We won't make the finals & there's about 8 rounds left. Ciraldo can take his place & next year Cory can be 100% and heal in the off-season.

If we were capable of signing players he would have got me.

I live in the real world where we struggle though, and Simpson for 15 games is better than no Simpson.

I don't know what a **** jockey is, but no need for insults after a bit of friendly banter from me.

Well I guess Cory Paterson (if he elects surgery will be back next year), Karawana, Taia, Taufua, Neville Costigan, Kyle O'Donnell, Ciraldo should be adequate. If things go to **** and we somehow get more injured players Rogers would be able to slot into lock. Hilder as a utility or Wes could also play lock if need be. That is 10 backrowers we could possibly have.

Lulia can play in the backrow too, that was BS's major plan for him.

yeah...but i'm against putting any ol' bludger into the backrow :P. Nah jokes he's an ok attacking player, got good footwork. But his defensive reads can be pretty poor. However I do agree with a full backline we might need to give him time in the backrow if we wanna keep him as a second string player.

Well i was really only throwing his name up as a kinda worst case scenerio.

We supposably have a good crop of NYC backrowers coming through, so I'd think we are pretty served in the backrow department.

You're forgetting Simpson is a very good prop.

Tetevano is worth a mention. He's been real good lately in the Toyota Cup

For sure, watching the last few games he has been playing great.

If we were to retain Simmo, that's where I would have him. With him not getting younger and also he is losing pace, he would be ideal for the front row.

There won't be any shortages in the backrow next year, Rogers will probably start playing second row next season if he makes the 17, I think Dodge could work very well as an impact player off the bench, his running game is tremendous.
