Rip for assistant!
No to Folkes the guy's methods aren't suited to the NRL in 2010(or the last 10 or 20 years for that matter) , with him as coach we wouldn't have the ball movement and attacking set plays we do now.
Yep. That's why the dogs continually made the 8 and won a premiership. He must be terrible.
The great thing about Rip is that he could lure back some of our promising juniors from Parra, Callan Richardson and Jono Wright, both are quality centres, not backrowers as Trent Robinson seemed to think in Callan's case.
David Fairleigh
Please not Graham Lowe, how the hell could he make the shortlist.
Kearney isn't even an applicant. Unless he said no, I find it hard to believe we wouldn't consider:
Kearney missing from list
I know a few Storm supporters living down in Melbourne, and they've all said that Maguire is the one who is actually responsible for a lot of their success. Kearney is basically there in a mentor type role. The players all love him, and he has an especially good relationship with the Polynesian players at the club. I've been told that it's Maguire who helps Bellamy with the game plans, and he is also responsible for their defense (which is extremely good - second best after the Dragons I think?).
They used a Queensland origin example. Kearny is like Mal, where he is very good at communicating with the troops and getting the point across. However Maguire is is more like Neil Henry. He's behind the scenes but he comes up with the tactics.
They'd both be good coaches, but I would personally prefer Maguire to Kearny, even though Kearny has the better resume.
Who is Graham Lowe? Please not Graham Lowe, how the hell could he make the shortlist.
former Manly, Qld and NZ coach I think he also coached the Cowboys too...limited success and polarises supporters...Who is Graham Lowe?
Hmm, not too sure about that. For NZ last year, word has it that Kearney came up with pretty intricate game plans, and Wayne Bennett was the mentor role who chipped in now and then.
From all that I've heard, Kearney is very technical as a coach.
You may be right. I don't really know much about either coach to be perfectly honest. I'm just going off what I've heard off Melbourne supporters.
But I really doubt that Bennett just chipped in now and again. The positive influence he's had on that NZ team has been huge.
