Double headers at Anz Stadium for 2009?

With both the Dragons & Tigers moving from Anz stadium & the financial crisis aswell Anz Stadium looks ugly heaps small with a crowd of 10,000. The Nrl should get serious about playing 2 games for the price of 1 since they make so much money out of Anz Stadium. How about playing the following games at these timeslots.

Round 6

April 17 - 20

Saturday 18th April
5:30pm Eels v Bulldogs, ANZ Stadium
7:30pm Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles, ANZ Stadium





Round 20

July 24 - 27

Saturday July 25th
5:30pm Bulldogs v Eels, ANZ Stadium
7:30pm Rabbitohs v Roosters, ANZ Stadium


Round 25

August 28 - 31

Saturday August 29th
5:30pm Bulldogs v Warriors, ANZ Stadium
7:30pm Rabbitohs v Dragons, ANZ Stadium

Would also attract other supporters with 2 games on at once. Thoughts?
 
It's all easy to say here but there's so many factors that impact where the game is played. There would be heaps of people against it cos it's not their traditonal home ground.
 
I don't think it's too bad an idea. Just price it properly and it could be a goer.
 
With only two teams left at ANZ move Bulldogs to Belmore and Rabbits to Redfern.
 
And Belmore is a dump.

Belmore could be upgraded, but it'd take a while and a lot of money.

I dont think Anz Stadium is all that bad...a couple giant screens & scoreboards plus enough undercover seating for rainy matches. I mean it would be a good stadium if you want to be on tv :) To be honest I love big stadiums. Thats the possitives at least :) & also you dont have to bring a chair & you dont have to worry about ohh no its gonna be a sellout.

& then you have the negatives...lack of atmosphere, how little light gets in for mid winter games etc, etc

The only reason for going to a live game is the atmosphere, if you ask me. If a stadium doesn't have it then it hasn't fulfilled it's primary purpose.

The atmosphere in a stadium is provided by the crowd. A stadium helps but it's down to the crowd to gee things up.
 
They shouldn't play double-headers at ANZ Stadium
  1. the Stadium turf can't hold up at the best of times
  2. really i can't see they braking the 30 thousand make at the stadium for the 3 double headers at all
I do agree Suncorp Stadium or the SFS/SCG would be much better
  • like round 10 "Heritage Round" at the SCG - first game -Roosters vs. Knights - Tigers vs. Rabbitohs or even a triple header with Sea Eagles vs. Eels
That would really be a sell out having those three matches played on a sunday afternoon/night
