Australian PM's XIII overcome PNG

Sailor and 2 Knights named in PM's XIII

Sailor named in PM's XIII

Comeback kid Wendell Sailor has been included in the Prime Minister's XIII to play Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby at the end of this month.

The line-up, featuring players from teams which are not participating in the NRL finals, will be captained by Parramatta's Nathan Hindmarsh.

Sailor got the nod after returning from a two-year drug ban to play for St George Illawarra mid-season.

The burly winger was solid for the Dragons and scored a hat-trick against Parramatta in round 25 as he showed glimpses of his glory days.

Gold Coast captain Scott Prince and Canberra excitement machine Terry Campese were picked as the halves, with Wests Tiger Robbie Farah lining up at hooker.

Mal Meninga will coach the PM's XIII for the fourth straight year, with the match to be played on September 28.

St George Illawarra winger, Wendell Sailor, has withdrawn from the Prime Minister's XIII to play Papua New Guinea on September 28, citing personal reasons.

Sailor has previously been linked to an off-season transfer with Super League club, Celtic Crusaders, and is understood to still be seeking a contract with northern hemisphere clubs.

The 34-year-old has played just eight NRL games in his return to league after serving a two-year suspension for cocaine dating back to his time with the NSW Waratahs in Super rugby.

The PM's XIII game would have been the former Queensland and Kangaroo winger's first league representative jumper since 2001.

South Sydney winger Nathan Merritt will replace Sailor in the 18-man touring party.
