It doesn't take a genius to figure that having 3 players that haven't played in a long time is a stupid idea. There was no reason to drop White, Ciraldo, and Dureau. What coach in their right mind would persist with Wicks?

I agree with what you are saying. But he knows the inside information, they might have had confidence issues or pulled up sore or something.
How much is Cross being paid anyways, he's bound to be thrown on the park when he's fit - that would be the message from the board.

Who knows. It must be quite a large sum im thinking if BS has been using him Week in week out when he wasnt suffering any injury.

You should've mentioned the fact that he's survived 500 games in the top grade. There aren't too many other names who have achieved that.

If BS didnt put White and Dureau back in the side then i would be EXTREMELY worried as to how the Knights are going to make the 8, and if Wicks is still in that squad i will be doing this the whole week

BS has been so good in improving the team, that after 1 loss you start to blame him. You wouldn't have this disappointment if it wasn't for the success due to Smith's coaching. Imo

So what, we aren't going to win this season, so we build on to the next few years. It takes more than a year or 2 to win a premiership. I think he's far from the outer tbh.

Even if we dont win it, at least make the finals for the sake of Bedsy. Hes playing with an injury and that just shows what a legend he is and how much he has given to the club! And he can just choose not to play so for the sake of him, the Knights NO MATTER WHAT have to make the 8

No no, its just that hes going to have to get his team sorted out cause we had the right team for the past 3 weeks and hes going to have to figure it out and understand who needs to be dropped. And at the moment the only guy im hoping the Knights will do it for is Beds.

As i've said in the past, its tactic he has employed for this season. He will change his side but i guess he just wants to see how the team trains and what will work well, but i agree its very frustrating for the players

The player clean out shouldn't mean immediate results. It takes time. The more players we get rid of, the longer it'll take to re-build - and we got rid of a fair few last year.

The team is starting to gel, and with BS as coach our potential (in terms of success) is slowly going up. Our position on the ladder is already better this year than last, and our winning margins have been better. If we improve at this rate, we could be a top 4 side next year. I think we should just agree to disagree.

I might not know what goes on in the Newcastle Camp, but surely Smithy plays the mind tricks more so on the media and opposition rather than the actual team? I mean with Sau and Uate's debut they weren't named but they knew from the beginning what Smith had in mind.

IMO, it has shown immediate results. We're 10x the better team we were last year. Smith isn't a miracle worker, and I don't know if any coach could have done anything different to help us improve this much.

Your kidding me. Its not the fact that we had one bad game. I know we have improved, and I think Brian has done some good things for the club.

BUT there is an underlying issue. That is the games he plays. Yesterday, we were beat even before we took the field. How can you be so dumb as to name 3 players who have not played in months. We made 3 interchanges in the first 15 minutes. Disgraceful. Why drop Scott D. He did nothing wrong. He has been in good form. He bought Karawana in and he did **** all. He does it week in week out. THe other major problem was no. 24. Danny "pies" Wicks. Seriously how is he a first grader. He is a disgrace to props. Don't get me started with Wicks.

as long as he insists on picking Danny Wicks, he will continue to lose credibility - and the support of his players, who are already fuming that 126kg of lard waltzed straight in to first grade, and proceeded to give up 2 tries and make his team mates (particularly Cross) look bad.

take off the rose coloured glasses people - Smithy built this team, and for that he should be compliamented - but if he isn't careful (more to the point, if he continues picking "soft serve" and playing stupid mind games), he is going to destroy it too.

Thats right. Smith causes a lot of in fighting between players as he makes them feel as if they are competing against each other in what is meant to be a team sport.

Too many people here wear rose cloured glasses. Everything does not have to be great all the time like most people make out. We are a team that has faults, we just need to work on them.

I dunno if you are talking about me or not, but if you read many of my posts on here you'll see that I'm definitely not wearing rose-coloured glasses. Infact I'm often the one bursting bubbles.
However on this topic I have a different opinion to you. I do agree however that Smith made a mistake last week - but that could've been an error by the board as well - telling Smith who to play and who not to (Wicks and Cross being high profile players after all).

the board wouldn't, and couldn't, tell smithy who to play. he has 100% control over team selections, and basically complete control over recruitment too.
