Every coach back to the under 16s has wanted to turn Fitz into a prop because of his size and aggression - you just have to look at him to see why.
We are desperate for another aggressive prop and we are sitting out second rowers.
Even Brown took one look at Fitz and tried to turn him into a prop, and found he didn't have the motor for it - but his recent defensive stats say he now has the motor.
Fitzy has turned the corner he is playing with commitment and the right attitude in the second row , he has now made his own , he has cut out the "erraticness - aggression or frustration" which made him a liability in the past , why move him to Prop and weaken that position?
We have a number of Props, (experienced and developing ) the thing is give them a defined role - Run Hard and Straight , back behind the PTB, play the ball effectively for 3 tackles , nothing fancy set a platform for the backs, cause we can score especially if the opposition is on the back foot. In Defence , work for the men either side of you , move early and don't disengaged once the play passes your "zone of responsibility", keep the line in tact , hit hard up high , "ball and all" and lock the ball (stops the off load) allow smaller players to hit and sting and drop player around legs.
Not too much to ask; strange thing is it works, why change that formula ??
We are sitting out second rowers but are they as effective as the ones already in that role ?? Between Guerra and Fitzy they are pretty capable although it appears as though Guerra offers more value to the team in his new roving Lock role in defence ( due mainly to the inefficiencies of others currently )
