Based on figures Billy produced Croker should be selected over Hetherington for 1sts and Sua should be considered before him as well, give Hetherington another game in Cup, wake up call
 

Joey with a big show of support for Pryce coming into the halves. It will be interesting to see if AOB succumbs to media pressure as I believe he did with the halves earlier in the year.

Personally I think he might as well give it a try. Big upside if Pryce can do something, we’re not going to beat the Panthers, so why not. I’d get rid of Hastings, and have 7. Cogger, 6. Pryce.

I dont normally listen to much Joey says, but i think hes mostly right here. Ive been saying it since round 1 our halves are creating nothing. Poor ball to centres, no creativity no spark. If you bring Pryce in its not to be a shape player its to run run run thats it. Our idea of creativity is to turn th ball inside to a forward or a short ball to the 2rf. Its horrible

Didn't get a chance to watch cup at first opportunity so will go back and watch that to potentially inform selections.

Hastings needs to be out of the side until he signs a contract with Wakefield. Crossland on the field for 80 is a net positive irrespective of what he may lack in the creative department, though I suspect we'd be pleasantly surprised given how much he's grown as a player. We finally get someone in the halves with a long kicking game.

Cogger - sigh, was much better than Hastings tonight. Still looks like he has no idea what he's doing out there which beffudles me, should've probably has 2 assists to Lucas and Hastings but was let down by the other party, actually looked like he might go through a few times when taking that random hitup he defaults to when having a brainfreeze. I saw 2 spiral bombs! Didn't end well but it's the thought that counts, also has our best short kicking game which again Friz messed up for him today. Half his plays still leave you going "wtaf is going on here" but the bar has been set that low at this point in time.

Maps - personally never really seen anything out of him even at Cup level that would suggest he's got it. Probably not ready to throw McCarthy to the wolves yet and don't want to change our future backrow so he gets a stay of execution. Tuala has basically never played a first-grade standard game at centre so I'm not willing to throw him back under the bus when he's been going ok on the wing. Send Ricky whatever he wants to give us Schiller is the only actual answer here.

R Jones and Croker deserve a shot, get Riley on for a short spell to provide some running threat through the ruck - covers everything else as well. Would honestly probably bench Friz and start Hetherington in this lineup just so our rotation isn't such a big drop off.

Watching reggies hasn't changed too much.

After the first half I was ready to call McCarthy up for Maps but the second half exposed exactly what Billy commented on in the other thread. Could make an argument for throwing Tuala under the bus to park McCarthy on the right wing outside Gagai but I'm reluctant to do so.

Starting to think Riley Jones is a necessity. Adds a level of explosiveness around the ruck that we just don't possess otherwise, if we're going to play such a limited attacking form then we may as well add someone who has the potential to create something from nothing off the back of a quick PTB. This has never been Brails go even at his best, chaotic running is Jones bread and butter and could prove valuable with Armstrong supporting through the middle.

Pryce is a tough one. AOB's presser comment that he hasn't put 2 good games together in a row is correct - he's really bad defensively and has had a few real shockers with the ball in hand as well. He probably offers more than the blokes starting now but you also wouldn't trust him to not be worse. He was pretty good overall yesterday but still got a bit wrong. I'm going to conclude that Melbourne isn't the place to try it, mainly because Jahrome Hughes and Eliesa Katoa is a very very tough channel to defend, and they will pump it all day if Pryce shows signs of struggling.

I'm giving Fletcher time in Cup, let him rack up games against men. Davey had a shocker but has done enough. He should take the offer at the Roosters and I'll be hoping he goes on to have a good career. If Sharpe murders Cup consistently and Davey struggles then by all means give him a debut but I suspect Armstrong will be ok. If KP comes back then Sharpe retains the fullback spot in Cup and Davey goes to the wing.

Aob made it clear in presser he isnt impressed with him in cup at this stage.

Am I the only one who get's the 1960s song "Along came Jones" in his head every time Brodie makes a classic try saver tackle - and I also think about the1950s song "The whole town's talking about the Jones boys" when I see both of them in a team list, but luckily, I can't remember how that goes and don't want to look it up in case it's as big an earworm as "Along came Jones"
 
Didn't watch rest of game after 1st try of second half was scored. So I can't comment on players performances. Will say that I think the Crossland to 6 call is sound as he'll provide more in attack and D than Cogger has in all his games this year. Really, REALLY disappointed in him, in all his games bar the soaking Dragons game, I haven't seen him provide one Iota of spark or direction. I think proof in pudding when Hastings or Gamble were dropped to CUP they upped that teams performance ten fold and smashed majority of opposition. When Cogger went back I saw no real improvement in the team.

Hastings seems to be in a poor place mentally as he is easily agitated and not the slightest bit composed with his choices compared to last year. He is however our best choice at 7 for the rest of the season and we know he has better in him. He's a much better player with Gamble there, who he knows he can rely on. The only reason I see him dropped for Cogger is that the senior players and Obi are seeing more issues behind doors and think they'd be better off. We're in trouble if that's the case though.

We just came off 4 strong gritty smart wins, not easy to achieve in this comp. I back majority of team in. Jsaf somehow only got a fine. I'd keep most of squad as is. Make them redeem themselves. 21,000 cold fans deserve that and more.

So Hastings had a bad game. Cogger has not show much in the games he’s played besides the Dragons. Out of the two I would be dropping Cogger before Hastings. Bring in either Phoneix or Pryce. In saying that, I would be open to giving the halves paring one more short against Melbourne.

That’s the only change I would make. Give Maps another shot. I feel like dropping Jayden is a knee jerk reaction

We dominated the dogs in the first half and were unlucky with there tries and scramble. So how forwards played well, and backs average. But not the time for wholesale changes.

The halves is the main issue. If there’s another poor performance from Hasting and Cogger than time for changes. But if AOB does not make a change for this game I agree with that also.

Bring Pryce on and slot him in 6 when the sting is out of the game. Phoniex can play in the forwards or hooker.

I’m hearing a lot of defensive issues with Pryce, and I haven’t watch the cup games. But when I saw him in the trials I thought he looked electric. I was excited! Andrew Johns backing him I think he needs to get a shot.

I honestly think with our “full strength” we would struggle to win the next two games. So let’s roll the dice. Cogger needs to go. He is lack lustre. Yeah Hasting had an average game but we know he can play better and has more creativity about him than Cogger. Also Cogger is a liability in defence. Hastings a much better defender.

Tough call but Marzhew needs to be dropped back to Reggie’s. He’s having confidence issues.

I would like to see some changes from last week. I'm a big fan of crossland having as much time on the field as possible. I like Brodie Jones more and more each week. But I'm sure we will see no changes and perform accordingly......
 
Sharpe has had some real quality try assists in his last few games and even done some strong tackles.

He must be knocking on the door for selection.

I wonder if they'd try Sharpe at fullback and Armstrong to wing?

Actually, some coaches might try that, but O'Brien won't.
