Your team v Bulldogs?

I think ESL got a bad cork in his thigh and played most of the reserve grade game with it.
It will probably take a week or 2 to get over that, or i'd pick him next week for sure.
Hard to drop Gamble and keep Smith when Sharpe is back.
Hunt was better than most - hard to drop him.
We can't keep getting Crossland to make 50+ tackles every game. Graham must play.

Wasn’t expecting a Round 4 Gamble vs Smith selection showdown before the match, here we are. After two years of mostly being injured, sort of forgot he goes ok.

Yeah I'd stick with the halves and bring Sharpe in at fullback. Hunt either plays centre or back to the bench.

McEwen possibly back to the bench but it's a tough week to throw Manuleleua, Salesa-Leaumoana or Cant in there to defend Kikau with most likely a rookie centre next to them.

I'd bring Hopwood straight in as a starter if Mooney is suspended, but it'll probably be Frizell.

McEwen had some tough moments but went way better than Francis or Cant. There’s no better option than him. Just gotta let him work through it and learn. I’m still a big believer.

We can't carry Hunt at fullback again. Hopefully the real Fletcher is back. He must be the #1.

I'd do;

1. Sharpe
2. Young
3. Gagai
4. Best
5. Marzhew
6. Crossland
7. Smith
8. Saifiti
9. Graham
10. Mooney
11. Lucas
12. McEwen
13. Croker

14. Henderson (really liking how he's playing in Cup)
15. Frizell
16. Manuleleua (needs to be there)
17. ESL (excellent in cup and offers more than Saulo)

18. Hopwood
19. McCarthy (been our best outside back in Cup)

1 Sharpe
2 Young
3 Gagai
4 Best
5 Marzhew
6 Gamble
7 Smith
8 Saf
9 Crossland
10 Frizell
11 Lucas
12 McEwen
13 Croker
14 Cant
15 Hopwood
16 Saulo
17 Francis
18 Hunt
19 Graham

Thought it was McEwen's best game for us. Saw him make back to back efforts all game. Made some really strong carries and made good decisions with the ball under fatigue.

Gagai had no where else to put his elbow. Ford's head was between the arm and the ground. If Gagai doesnt use both arms on impact, he'd face slam.

Not throwing the baby out with the bathwater, he's a decent player now and a good prospect for the future but the errors need to be addressed. The one today after turning away a bunch of pressure on the goal line was a coach killer.

I think in an ideal world he'd still be a fringe player rather than an every week starter but he's competing with players who are all similar in age/experience. Think it's worth at least considering the other options even if keeping him there is ultimately the best one. He'd still be getting minutes off the bench at worst in my view.

If we do get Niukore over this year, starting Marata there for the first 20 mins then moving him to the middle so McEwen can keep out of that initial tough contact, may be an option. The thing is a real hard **** with experience for the first 20 minutes would also be handy in the middle lol.

Side note we should seriously look at Lachlan Crouch playing over some other guys in the middle rotation now next week. He’s a full grown man. It matters.

Change our props, yes retain JSaf and Mooney but bring in Hola and Crouch who went well in Cup, drop McEwen to bench playing Frizell in his place..
Starting pack JSaf, Crossland, Mooney, Lucas, Frizell, Croker subject to suspensions if any
Spine was not so good, but based on this game Smith was ordinary while others went ok, Gamble should be retained.
Back 5, tell Gags to rein it in, play his normal game without the nonsense, yes Sharpe to f/b if fit, Hunt to bench, reason is Sharpe is a better 1 than Hunt, Gamble earned another game and Hunt is versatile to cover injuries for 1-5 while Young, Lucas Best and Marzhew did enough to remain.
Bench, Graham, McEwen, Hola, Crouch or Saulo, with 18/19 Hunt and Manuleleau/ Saulo
All of this dependant on injuries and suspension, will no more come Tuesday

Agree with both these points.

What I’d like to see:

1. Sharpe
2. Young
3. Gagai*
4. Best
5. Marzhew
6. Gamble
7. Smith
8. J Saifiti
9. Crossland
10. Mooney*
11. Lucas
12. McEwen
13. Croker

14. Graham
15. Frizell
16. Saulo
17. ESL/Manuleleua/Hopwood

If Gagai is out, put Hunt to centre. If Mooney is out, put Frizell to prop and elevate either ESL or Hopwood.

What I think we’ll see:

1. Hunt
2. Young
3. Gagai*
4. Best
5. Marzhew
6. Sharpe
7. Smith
8. J Saifiti
9. Crossland
10. Mooney*
11. Lucas
12. McEwen
13. Frizell

14. Cant
15. Croker
16. Saulo
17. Manuleleua

* pending suspension.

I think Holbrook would want to see as little disruption to the side as possible and keep continuity within the playing group.
