Womens Ashes 2023

I was watching last night until around 2 AM and went to bed thinking the women blew an opportunity to put their foot on England's throat and take out the test match....at that point England were none for 55 after 10 overs and both Lamb and Beaumont looked like they were going to romp it in and score all the runs themselves.

And I check the score this morning to see Gardner and McGrath have put a stranglehold on the Poms batting and we are in with a big chance of securing the first test in the series on a day 5 pitch that will continue to deteriorate and with the top 5(including the double century maker - Beaumont) all back in the sheds!

Easy win in the end.
The English girl who scored 200 must hold some sort of record. I doubt any other women's game has been lost after someone scored 200, and very few men's games.

I can think of two instances of a team losing when a player scored a double century. Paul Collingwood at Adelaide in the 06/07 Ashes. And Brian Lara once scored 221 and 130 in the same match and the Windies lost anyway, against Sri Lanka I think. But yeah it doesn’t happen often.

Nathan Astle 222 vs England in 2002, one of the all time great innings. Fastest 200 ever in tests off 153 balls.

Finally the Aussie Woman wrapped up the Ashes, they had lost their last 3 games.

The selectors should have picked Alana King before now, she had the best figures of the Aussie bowlers in this game. She had not been selected since the test match.

Now for the Mens Ashes.
