Woman says Ben Te'o assaulted her

Darius has always had a reputation as being a sneak but you'd think it's very unlikely he was doing anything wrong with the girl since he's just married. It's all well and good for him to be a witness but he shouldn't be grilled for any of this.

he could have palmed her. I was just saying what they said on the radio. That channel 9 were not keen on playing the story till they dug deeper. And the fact that he hasnt denied hitting her just he didnt act innapropriatly is strange

Brisbane woman Katie Lewis to pursue criminal charges against NRL star Ben Te'o

KATIE Lewis, the woman who alleges she was punched by South Sydney star Ben Te'o, plans to provide Queensland police with a formal statement next week and pursue criminal charges against the Queensland Origin player.

Lewis told Channel 9 yesterday that she was upset at the statement released by Te'o on Wednesday that dismissed the allegations he assaulted her and has now made plans to sit down with police at the end of next week to formalise a complaint against him.She alleges Te'o, 26, punched her during an altercation at the home of Broncos fullback Corey Norman in Brisbane last month, a claim the footballer has denied.

Lewis said the only reason she didn't pursue criminal charges earlier was because she was confused and alone in Brisbane, but now had the support to take the issue to the authorities."I didn't press any charges, I was confused at the time. I was up there by myself," Lewis told Nine."So I guess not having your family around you it was very daunting to be dealing with it by yourself and I guess getting information from different people."Now you've got the support from some people and then you have other people that are concerned for you in regards to what it will do to me mentally."

Her father, Ashley Lewis, said he was concerned with how his daughter would handle the fallout from going public and slammed the footballers for failing to come to her aid.She says Te'o, Norman and Newcastle star Darius Boyd all failed to help her when she was injured inside the house."I felt absolutely disgusted in these fellas what they've done to Kate," he told Nine."The worst part is how Kate will cope and hopefully that with me giving all of my support I'm not putting Kate into a position where she is going to be hurt anymore, whether it be verbally or a personal attack or anything like that."The NRL have launched a full inquiry into the claims - the incident is set to overshadow the State of Origin series opener with Te'o up for selection for the Maroons

You can't withdraw a complaint in QLD, then head back in an make the same complaint.

You think if you wanted to do this, you would ask the police rather than blab to the media first.

I also have to mention, she doesn't decide that she will press charges, police are the ones who charges offenders, based on their investigation

South Sydney's decision to cover up the alleged ben Te'o assault is a black eye for rugby league

SOUTH Sydney's Ben Te'o used to be coached by Wayne Bennett at the Brisbane Broncos.

It is a shame that arrangement doesn't remain in place given that Bennett's view of clubbing, headphone-wearing, Gen Y footballers was "that nothing good ever happens after midnight".Something very bad happened four-and-half-hours after midnight a bit over a month ago in Brisbane. The undisputed facts paint a bad picture without even knowing the full story. Woman in room with two footballers, Darius Boyd and Corey Norman, when third player Ben Te'o turns up.All four had caught a taxi together to Norman's Brisbane home. Woman ends up with fractured eye socket, says she is left on the floor bleeding and the players bolt.It does get worse. The woman in question does not lodge an official police complaint (she is now being urged to do so) but the clubs were informed. The players were cleared by their club and the NRL was not told.

None of the trio has been stood down.

The woman at the centre of the allegations may not be Snow White. Social media has gone haywire this week with allegations against her, aimed at her alleged reputation as a "bad girl".Somehow in this world, the more your reputation is diminished as a female, the less blame can be laid at the feet of those who hurt you.Te'o said: "I found myself in an unfortunate circumstances that were not caused by me and I acted appropriately to deal with a difficult situation."

South Sydney forward Ben Te'o has denied claims by a Brisbane woman, inset, that he assaulted her.

It would be my view that no matter how dreadfully or unfortunately the young woman was behaving, she would have little chance against three super fit professional footballers.Shane Richardson is the chief executive of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He is the captain of the faction that farewelled Gallop and welcomed Dave Smith to the NRL with great glee.Richo is famous for making "off the record" remarks to journalists and pretending it was not him.In this case, every single thing has been totally off the record. Big Richo decided he could handle the Te'o stuff in house.Big Richo was judge and jury who cleared Te'o and continues to maintain that not standing him down until all of this is sorted is entirely appropriate.Big Richo decided to not tell new NRL boss, Dave Smith, who he heralded as a messiah five months ago.Big Richo, great supporter of the new NRL Integrity Commission, forgot about integrity and accountability when it mattered most. Here we have a woman with serious injuries after an alleged assault at 4.30 in the morning. Ambulance and police attended.

Three highly-paid football stars (and each one of these blokes is a representative player) leave from the scene and only one thinks to call the police. Something very bad has obviously gone down.Big Richo decided to sweep it conveniently under a carpet until the media started sniffing around the edges of the rug. When he finally fronted the media he did so in front of a black screen devoid of sponsorship logos. This is all too unsavoury for the glossy new Crown casino to put their logo behind.Smith is reportedly livid Richardson left him out of the loop. In fact, Richo did not even create a loop. It was between him and Te'o, one of the players who has the Rabbits perched nicely at the top of the NRL ladder.Richardson denies he let things slide because of the club's push towards its first premiership in more than four decades.Smith now has his integrity investigators looking at the case. I'm not convinced they do a better job than the police but such is the nature of the NRL now that another layer of bureaucracy has been added to deal with these matters.I deeply suspect Gallop or John Quayle would have just picked up the phone and called the police officers who attended the scene. Now, however, we have a mess. Big Richo continues to maintain Te'o's innocence. Te'o's father says he is innocent. So does Te'o. None of them has outlined exactly what the "unfortunate" circumstances were.

They have not provided a complete version of events. The NRL commission has been mute this week. Smith read from a prepared statement in front of a media scrum. His inability to state a clear message without notes is alarming - it is not rocket science to say you are deeply concerned, you will take action and you are now in charge.Big Richo might like to remember transparency when next he decides to smother an issue. This is a cover up in my opinion and no amount of dancing around that carpet will repair the damage done to the code this week.

Firstly let me say that I am all for bringing anyone to justice that has so much as lifted a finger against a woman. Secondly, IF (and it's a big IF imo) Boyd has a case to answer get him in to answer it. Both those points being made I must say I despise Rebecca Wilson and had actually forgot she existed until this article was posted. Thanks.

The most annoying part is they keep saying she is going to make a complaint. She has done this and withdrew it farrrrrrr

I know I'll get in trouble for saying this but it would take her a fair length of time to get to the Police station to make said complaint. I mean getting around with a mattress strapped to your back would make any kind of travel difficult.

That's what I mean, it's ridiculous. Guys have to learn its one girl to one guy, you run a massive risk.

A pool of blood from a black eye? Haha

Ben Te'o selection appears a gamble not worth taking for Maroons

BEN Te'o has the right to be considered innocent until proven otherwise, but does he deserve a State of Origin jersey?

If this paper's mail is right, then the South Sydney forward will be named on the bench for Queensland tomorrow night. Despite the fact he is at the centre of an investigation from the NRL's integrity unit following an incident at the home of Bronco Corey Norman that left a young lady with a fractured eye socket. It is a risky move, not on behalf of the selectors or coach Mal Meninga, but by the QRL and NRL.Ultimately Meninga and his selection panel only pick a team from the best talent available. And the QRL and NRL have deemed Te'o available.

Distinguishing the facts of this case is proving difficult. There are, as always, conflicting reports and recollections. But one thing is undisputed, and that is the girl in question has a fractured eye socket.Until it can be determined that Te'o wasn't responsible for it, as is being alleged, then it's questionable he should be playing at all, let alone playing in rugby league's showpiece event. If he is stood down, the worst that can happen is that Te'o is denied an Origin appearance for his state. If down the track he is found guilty of a serious assault those that allowed him to play will have done far greater damage to the brand and image of league.

Queensland say they will abide by the findings of the NRL's independent report into alleged Ben Te'o incident

THE outcome of the NRL probe into Ben Te'o is imminent and the Maroons would abide by the findings of the independent report, Queensland Rugby League chairman Peter Betros said last night .

The selection of Te'o for the Maroons remains in doubt, with coach Mal Meninga and Betros set to accept the findings of the independent report into allegations he assaulted Brisbane woman Katie Lewis at the home of Broncos fullback Corey Norman last month.Te'o will today get the opportunity to set the record straight and is expected to front the media as the Maroons settle into camp at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. The South Sydney forward has denied the allegations and the NRL has moved swiftly since The Courier-Mail broke the story last week to investigate what occurred on April 20.

Betros said last night the QRL was expecting a ruling from the NRL today."I understand that the integrity unit's findings will be released in the next 24 hours.

Hopefully we can have the situation settled one way or the other," Betros said."It's not a hard one for us; it's probably hardest for the player. Ben was good enough for selection, so as it stands he is available for selection."The investigation is being done separate to us and we'll accept whatever outcome. So far we have heard one side of the story but we need to hear both sides."Te'o, 26, told reporters at Brisbane Airport yesterday that he would be available for media at the Maroons open day at Coolum.Ms Lewis sustained a fractured eye socket in the incident. Channel 9 last night aired the 000 emergency call she made to police. Ms Lewis has told Nine she plans to make a formal complaint with Queensland police this week and would then be prepared to talk to the NRL integrity unit to share her side of the story.Maroons coach Mal Meninga will welcome a resolution from the NRL, with Queensland to hold their first training session as a team today.

Canberra enforcer Josh Papalii was named 19th man on Monday night and would most likely be promoted for his Origin debut if Te'o is ruled out.Meninga reiterated he would follow NRL direction on whether Te'o could play in rugby league's showpiece event at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday.

SOUTH star Ben Te'o no longer has a case to answer over assault allegations, but the woman responsible for making the claims has vowed to not let the matter rest.

Three months after Te'o was accused of striking Katie Lewis at the home of former Brisbane team mate Corey Norman, Queensland police and the NRL Integrity Unit cleared him of any wrongdoing."We've closed that particular investigation and we've determined that no further action will be taken in relation to the matter," a police spokesman said.

Still celebrating Queensland's eighth-straight Origin series win, the Maroons forward was given the good news on Thursday morning.

BEN Te'o has finally spoken out about assault claims against him, saying he never hit the woman in question and pledging to seek legal advice against those who "sought to harm my reputation".

Police last night officially cleared Te'o of the allegations, which stem from an incident involving Brisbane woman Katie Lewis.Through his club South Sydney, Te'o and his management released a statement this afternoon.

The Queensland Origin star, 26, previously stated he "acted appropriately" on the night in question, but did not deny hitting Lewis.
