Under 19s origin

Did anyone catch either game last night? I hope to get a chance to watch it back over the weekend. Didn’t hear much about our knights boys to be honest. Sounds like it was QLD all the way. Will be interested to see if Seve played a part in that?

Yeah I’m actually disappointed to hear the club won’t resign him. Despite his age he is still playing good footy and I’m sure he would play on for a reduced contract.
Agent has been able to talk to other clubs since last November & no takers . Super league I think . Has had his moments this year both good & bad

Toby Winter had a few good moments, but overall, he had a poor game at fullback, being caught out of position a lot.
Hagan was one of the best for NSW. He played the full game. He started at hooker and really kept us in the game for the first half. In the second half he did a long spell at lock, but finished the game at hooker. There are no stats available, but he would have done at least 40 and maybe 50 or 60 tackles.
Seve played left centre - usually plays right centre at the Knights. He looked as big and strong as anyone and had some quality runs, with great footwork, but he wasn't a standout for QLD - just did a solid job in a winning side - but he would probably have been the youngest on the field.

I do wonder if Winters lack of positional awareness at fullback comes from him being heavily focused at centre for the Knights because apart from that I thought he was really good, looked fast, fearless ran hard into the middle a few times, a few good times he used his pace to get on the outside and pass it for extra metres, even grabbed a try assist

I really like Hagan. He is tough and leads and talks by example. I can’t see him playing some NRL this season and certainly fits the Knights mantra: be the player that others want to play with.

It's not a new position for him though. This game needs fearless all the time. His hands were in bad positions even when he had a catch at the ball. There is going to be many times where he needs to go up for a highball at centre in grade and you need to be up to the task.

Not a big issue for me Bradman has rarely gone up for a high ball, Marzhew is one of the worst of the modern era for it, Hunt struggles hard for it and Sharpe last time he did it at fullback rarely caught the ball.

These things are easy to teach whilst he has all the other things such as ball playing, vision etc, it might not be a new position but rust is real, you put Munster back in fullback like he was a few years ago he was nowhere near the player, it would be the same for Hughes and even Lucas now with his last game at centre being horrible.

When you move positions you do focus heavily on what that needs and whilst times do happen where you have to go for a high ball it’s not at the same rate as a winger or fullback that id be worried, especially with some of the hopeless people in the air like I suggested, throw Young in that as well.
