I guess everyone is aware that Uate's management expects him to become the first winger to 500k a season. Hes contracts up next season even with Marquee player bonuses i cant see him staying a Newcastle.
 
no chance for 500k.

250k max. Maybe 300k if he is in 2010 form.

Add on a bit extra if the cap rises.

At his best he does put bums on seats though, so in terms of making money he would be worth it, just not in terms of playing "moneyball".

Even with his form slump hes the Australian winger and fan favorite he can name a pretty high price. I dont think hes enjoying Bennetts safe game play either. He can get a decent pay raise going elsewhere. Not that i want to see that happen.
 
His defensive track record recently would not bring half a million despite what his manager may think. That much for a half back sure but not a winger.
 
Can't see him leaving, he's a loyal guy and Newcastle have done a lot for him.

We need Craig Sandercock back specifically for Aku.
 
That's a bit harsh the poor guy just wanted to play against the best, he could'nt do that at home so he did what he had to do to achieve that.
Personally i don't think he did it for the money he and Tamou want to play with and against the best to do that you play state of origin .Trouble there at the moment is if your playing with the best you have a Maroons jersey on and if your playing against the best you have a Blues jersey on lol.
 
Pay the Kiwis the same to play a Test as the Origin players get and there won't be any divided loyalties.
 
He's havin' a laugh! No winger is worth that much unless they're useful at fullback.

I love him, but 500k is too much. Until he single handedly wins us games, he can let another club sink money into him.
 
Would hate to see him playing against us but him on $500,000 or kevy on $50,000 id take kevy and spend the rest on Carney or whoever to replace Mullen.
 
Don't forget, 500k will be the new 350k-400k when the tv deal comes around. An in form Uate is worth that, especially when he also brings plenty of people through the gates.

Man I would lose my **** if we lost Aku, winning a premiership is ideal but at the end of the day I started going for the knights cause of what we stood for, and the brand of football we play, i'd hate to become sell outs. it's getting to the point of having a completely new team and I'm already cut about losing favourites in taia and fa'aoso. I'm hard to please I know but everyone has players they love to cheer for and sorry stagg and Scott arnt on that list at moment lol UATE is a player we must keep for what he offers the club on and off the field.

It's the same when Tahu was around and we let him go. Can't see the Knights letting Aku slip this time.

And why would he want to go anywhere? We will be a powerhouse in the next few seasons.
 
Didn't he say him self that the reason he chose NSW was for the Money to help his family out?? The same reason could make him go to another club?
 
If Aku is signed on big money, i know his best position is winger, but he has to be used more often...
Maybe come infield for our attack and play like a second fullback...

Uate said himself that he switched for the money, to help support his family back in Fiji.
