Both good and bad what are you're 2009 top 10 moments.

10. Injuries in the engine Room - How bad was our injury toll up front this year? It had a massive impact on our metres gained. The loss of Dan Tolar and Ben Cross aswell as horrific injury to Cameron Ciraldo left us reeling.

9. Lack of crowd at home games - Was a huge discussion on the forum and began to be questioned by the Knights, where are all the fans? EAS wasn't close to a sell out until Round 26 and was dissapointing for such an exciting team.

8. Magic win - Round 6 win against Dragons shaped as one of the best wins under coach Brian Smith. Dragons were the form team of the competition and the Knights came back from an 8-0 defecit to win 24 - 18 in Kogarah.

7. Dureau/Mullen/Rogers - By far the most annoying thing over the 2009 season was the swapping and changing of the halves. One week Dureau was in, the next Rogers took over. It ruined any chance of consistency and was a massive talking point amongst fans.

6. De Gois player of the year - Well deserved. De Gois taking over Danny Buderus and what a replacement! Showed the fans just how valuable he is to the side with all the work he racks up.

5. Roosters Heritage smash up - The Round game against the Roosters in SFS was nothing short of brilliant. Everything went well that night including the brilliant try Kurt Gidley set up for Jarrod Mullen.

4. Brian Smith Saga - Leaving the club after 3 years at the helm... making Stoney take over. Such a huge shock to the Knights and it certainly affected them. Smith did the right thing of stepping down and letting Rick take over effective immediate.

3. Kurt Gidley - NSW Captain - What a proud moment for the club to see Kurt walk out as skipper of the Blues. Hey... QLD won the series, but Kurt led the blues with pride.

2. Danny Wicks drug arrest - Only recent but it's hit home hard, and innocent until proven guilty? Not quite in this circumstance... Wicks quit the club on 'his terms'. Surely if he was innocent he would fight for his place at the Knights?

1. Knights make the finals - What a moment it was... been so close for so many years and finally at the 70th minute in Round 26 our hopes had been realised. Although it didn't last long, it was rated my number 1 in our top 10 moments for the club.
 
Here are my top ten for 2009:

10- Gus Gould picking us to finish in the top 4 at the start of the season.
9- The thunder storm at EAS when we played Brisbane a night to remember
8- Round 2 against Cronulla - lossing Simpson, Mullen & Ciraldo .... but pulling out a great performance with one on the bench most of the night
7- James MacManus playing for NSW
6- Qualifying final gamble - De Gois, Taia & Simpson
5- Round 6 vs. Dragons at Kogarah just a great win
4- Round 12 vs. Bulldogs at EAS - 20 nil at halftime against the competitions pace makers
3- Kurt Gidley the third Knight to Captain NSW in a row
2- Danny Wicks - A season he started to show the talent he has & then faces drug charges :brickwall:
1- Brian Smith leaving for the Roosters & going on a four game lossing streak, then his gone
 
Only gonna go with the good.

3 - Kurt Gidley captaining NSW
4 - Round 26 v Penrith with 22k at EAS
5 - Round 24 v Cowboys
6 - Aku Uate's try v Broncos
7 - Jarrod Mullens try v Cowboys
8 - Round 2 v Cronulla
9 - Round 12 v Dogs
10 - Everyone writing us off at the start of the season

Not really when the stadium on holds 22,000 untill march 2011 & looks like a construction site.
Home average of 15, 888 yes down 18.1% on 2008 season & really 25% of the stadium under construction (since the 2008 season).
 
The biggest disaster of the year was McManus playing in the SOO............ We haven't seen him since then........ This sort of thing happens too often. The NRL should allow the club to purchase a replacement player with no effect to the salary cap.....................

I have decided to have a grumpy new year!!!!!!!:evil1:

What player could we have signed who would have been better than Lulia?

I admit losing McManus was a big blow, but Lulia did a great job in his absence.
 
yeh, all the good players should be purchased before the SOO period, unless u mean purchasing a lower grade player from another club who isnt getting a run. But with Mcmanus gone, Lulia, Uate, Vuna, McDonnell were enough, then u have madpup and a few others who could have played if needed.
 
How good will it be to have the Vuna McManus wing combo next year? Two of the strongest dummy half runners in the comp, plus both excellent finishers. Can't wait to see them in action together!!!
 
Im really pumped too see how Mullen, Sau and Vuna will go this year.

And hopefully McManus can stay away from injuries this year because while he wasn't playing, the lack of go forward killed us last year.

He'd have to be one of the best dummy half runners in the game.

Lulia was great........... My point is that for a club player to play SOO he has to be one of the two best in the country. If he gets injured, which happens on a regular basis, then the club is denied the services of what is a high quality player............ If a club loses a specialist such as a half, hooker or kicker then it could affect that club's entire season.......... The club has to be recompensed in some way............

Well it could be true if say we lost a halfback ... potentially I spose we could get a second string half from another club to negotiate a release. So yeah, makes sense, depending on the back-up at the club each the certain position.

Maybe if the club is willing to forego a replacement the ARL should make the player's payments until he returns.
 
If this was a player of Slater, Inglis, Lockyer or even C. Smiths calibre then this would definitly be discussed in the NRL because they are obviously the foundation of clubs and it would generate to much bad publicity for SoO. However, as good as McManus is for us, he isn't a big name player.

He was good enough to be picked for a SOO side! Clubs need some form of protection against the (very real) possibility of losing a player when injured in representative matches.

I wasn't stating that players or clubs shouldn't have some form of protection or compensation.

What I was saying, regardless of McManus' status as an origin player, he is not a face of NRL, he is not a 'known' player to Australia. Which is why I was stating if this was a player like Inglis or what not then this topic would become a media discussion forcing the NRL to make a statement or decision on the topic.

You're right there of course. That's the tragedy of the whole situation.....It shouldn't matter who the player is.......
