Toohey's News

maybe we're holding out that 150k for Moses Leota & balking at offering it to Friz.
While a good thought as I’d love him here, there is almost no way we have the money to go for Leota.

Especially with the teams that are worse and the money they will be willing to spend for someone like him.

"I've been pretty loyal and hopefully I'm not disrespected by the way it's handled," he told us. "I've spoken to the coach and I'll keep doing my best for the team and hopefully it can work itself out."
From Friz’s comments, it sounds like his manager has already had discussions with the club. I think those negotiations should be kept behind closed doors, but maybe Friz feels disrespected by the offer the club has put forward and needed to speak about it publicly.

He's been pulling a jersey on all season, it doesnt look too good.

Hopefully he arrives here with a fresh enthusiasm.
I agree got plenty of Wahs tragics most were cheering when he signed with us. Frizz at half the price for 12 months was always a better get, even Pete can get it wrong, hope I am proven wrong.

What are people expecting from Niukore? I'm guessing he plays middle, rather than on an edge, i don't think that's a secret. I'm not expecting big run metres from him. I am expecting a guy that has the opposition looking out for him in the ruck. Someone who brings a genuine fear factor. Someone who dominates in tackles consistently. The guy is made of granite. I don't think his highlights reel is going to be huge but I reckon he'll earn plenty of respect from the fan base. He gives us a point of difference in the pack. I can imagine JMcK trying to show the old dog that he is just as tough.
What Jeremy smith was meant to be for us?

I think people should judge Marata once he’s actually played for us and not write him off before he’s pulled on a jersey.

I remember half our fan base writing off Brown just because of his contract, and now look.
No one ever wrote off brown just the value of his contract.

Fletcher Hunt's agent says the club would be mad to let him become a free agent for 2028 this November. O'Sullivan retorts that they'd be mad to make him an offer they can't afford, adding that he has no doubts Hunt will attract bigger offers from other clubs. Toohey notes cap pressure and emerging centres Toby Winter, Kingston Seve and Baxter Best as potential obstacles for Hunt's chances of re-signing here. All in all the article is pretty pessimistic about his next contract being with the Knights. Hunt says he'd love to replace Dane Gagai next year, and the contract stuff is being left up to his manager.

Toohey talks up Justin Holbrook for Coach of the Year, saying he's surprised everyone including Toohey himself who booked a September holiday not expecting the Knights to still be playing at that time.

Knights got rid of an assistant coaching position in the NRLW coaching staff but aren't cutting the budget, the money went into bringing in the Jillaroos head of performance and signing several juniors to contracts to keep them away from other teams.

Trying to hard ball POS It's a bold strategy, Cotton Let's see if it pays off for 'em

Not offering Hunt a deal will only make sense if Young and Best both resugn. I'm guessing we are close in both. Would certainly prefer to keep Hunt over Schiller and McCarthy.

Another thing in the article is we have the most players in the schools comp in Coffs this week of any NRL program - 24 players across u18 and u16 boys and girls.
He doesn't name them, but hopefully we see a heap make the schoolboys and girls sides.

I saw the CCC side (bloody catholics) played a trial against under 16s Knights at the centre of excellence a few days ago.
Probably a heap of potential players in both sides.
