I’m okay with thisPonga and Parr worked out his new deal in 2 weeks and very few people knew talks were happening. Ponga wanted to be the one who told his team mates when the deal was done. Ponga is thought to have signed for a modest increase to his current contract, with the salary cap set to increase by up to 20%, so a paycut in effect.
Surely people look at how he handled the Galvin stuff and you have to say what a big win it was for Benji and the Tigers. He went from having $6m over five years or whatever it was to $750k over 3 thinking his value would rise over the years at the Bulldogs whereas in actual fact it’s gotten worse if he were to be off contract tomorrow.**** Isaac Moses
This lines up with what brad tighe said. If the deal is $1.2 million but indexed as that percentage of the cap, then yes with the expected increase in the salary cap it will pay him something in the order of $1.4-1.5 million in 2028. A modest increase on the current salary but he’s essentially dropped in equivalent terms from 1.4 to 1.2.Part 2 of Tooheys news 30/4

Well, hopefully that $200k goes into a forward who will keep him alive on the field. How's the poor bugger going to survive lol.
I'm sure the fans can do a bit of a whip round to help him out. How's the poor bugger going to survive lol.
I think he has potential to be, but that in that lot are proven origin, finals, and grand final players. Lucas hasn’t achieved that as yet. Not saying he won’t, but 900k is elite player money.Honestly think Lucas is comfortably better than all these players, except Katoa. Not better than Crichton over his career but I certainly wouldn't swap them right now. It's far from an easy decision to stand firm on that kind of number.
Michael Carayannis suggested on the weekend that the deal was 11.5% of the cap. Whether or not he has any idea, I don't know..This lines up with what brad tighe said. He doesn’t obviously. Considering everything he said last year it’s obvious he doesn’t, and that time he incorrectly said a few players were being tapped on the shoulder. Not sure how he’s allowed to run a new club and still report on player signings and deals (and do a poor job at that for that matter)Michael Carayannis suggested on the weekend that the deal was 11.5% of the cap. Yeah I know, and I don’t think a few of them are actually that good. I think Hudson Young is a complete cat & a downhill skier for example. Every one of slots’ complaints about Mooney go double for Hudson.I think he has potential to be, but that in that lot are proven origin, finals, and grand final players. Winters most recent highlights video on the shortball page gave me herbie vibes. Movement, offload and the looks slightly too in the vid.Winter reminds me of Brad Tighe, as a player.

Do think it’s funny that ‘suggestions’ are almost always certainly wrong
Same guy, same clownCarayannis, not Chammas.
Funny how the Panthers have had no one under Moses watch for years and none of this is an issue. I wonder if that’s an Ivan influence considering what happened at the tigers. As for the Moses cry - well, the handling of Galvin?
Yes both start with Micheal so get the confusion. LolCarayannis, not Chammas.
Heard it was about $550K but have no idea how accurate this is.Considering the deal given to Lucas I reckon Sharpe is already on a very very good wicket.

Strange because the Telegraph article from last year of the Top 100 earners didn’t have Lucas listed on it, so maybe he’s wage only went to $700k this year.
I guess all salary discussions have to be taken with a grain of salt because nobody actually knows for sure but this is what the top 100 were all apparently earning last year.
Looking at it again, $700k for Lucas isn’t as egregious as I first thought, when you consider what some others are getting.
The most insane thing is that Eli Katoa doesn’t even make the list.
