Forget all that nonsense of replacing Lillyman and Heighinton, they were brought in to assist/help our young up and coming forwards and length of service was limited. Tollman has 2-3 years beyond this, much younger than Heighinton and even he as a Pom International is not the prop Tolman is. I would be very happy if we could get him and continue our mix of experience and youth. In two years, maybe less, Dan, Jacob, Esee, King will be at there top, not necessary top class but some will be. Others such as Saulo will improve, just need that transmission from 2018 to 2020 to be very strong. We can than buy others down the track as need dictates us.

We are still going to need to replace them once they move on!

If we can get Tollman it's a no brainer. Add to his signing next year and keep building.

If there is a 50% chance this is true :shrug:

Then we would be mad not to throw 1.1m - 1.3m over 3yrs for him.
Dogs had a poor 2017 and he was still mister dependable all yr.

Id give him the 13 jumper tbh, will churn out 80 minutes make over 100m and tackle all day.

    15 Barnett
    16 Lillyman

For mine Barnett as Browny's player of the year 2017 gives him first shot at 13.

If Barnett is fit he gets the 13. I have no doubt at all.

One position we seemed to be blessed in with our juniors at the moment is prop.
Saulo has made every rep side for NSW and Australia for the last few years, as has Matt Croker, and below under 20s level we have Tom Baker, Harry Croker and Jaron Purcell and Brock Gardiner making NSW sides as well.
Halfbacks, hookers and props are falling out of the trees at the moment - other positions, not so much.

i remember reading from Barry toohey something on Buhrer playing some lock this yr. I think Barnett would make a solid impact player! coming on around 25th minue against tired forwards etc.

He got player of the year because Browny wasnt to happy with Dan Saifiti during preseason and the first 5 or so rds, was over weight and a bit lazy.

I like Barnett as he loves to get under peoples skin and has a bit of grub about him, though if there is a better player suited to the role at lock to make the starting 13 stronger, then id happily shift Barnett to the bench.

It looks to me that Buhrer and Griffin are going to share the lock position and Barnett and Fitz are fighting over the left second row position at the moment.

Does Browny want Buhrer at lock to help Pearce out with the play making?

    Doubt it,
Though i can see our structure being of a 90s plan where the lock is more about second faze play and short balls to guys running off him... like it always should of been..
    Ball movement FTW.

I think Griffin will start hooker with Levi off the bench.

Would be surprised if Barnett isn’t lock if healthy.

    I’m thinking:
    11. Buhrer
    12. Guerra
    13. Barnett

Could see Buhrer/Guerra playing some lock when Barnett gets subbed off for Fitzgibbon, who comes on to play second row.

Barnett is a 23-year old with 33 games in the NRL, most of them in a time where the club had no experienced options. I know he won the player of the year, but it's not that crazy if he comes off the bench.

I've always liked Barnett outwide personally, spoilt for choice would love to see either Barnett/Guerra/Fitzgibbon there in that order and use Buhrer as an 80 minute tackle bot up the middle taking some grubby hitups.

I just feel Fitzgibbon would be wasted off the bench. Barnett offers more impact imo. With fitzgibbons form last year and in trials so far he would be my first picked 2rf!

Heard that Fitzgibbon was best on the field in the Melbourne trial. Wouldn't be surprised if he forces his way into the starting team for Round 1.
