Tinkler Pulls Out - NBN News reporting

Someone who cancels a press conference and withdraws an offer, has, in my opinion, another agenda that is not in the best interests of the club and it's members.

Buying a football club is not something that can be done overnight. The board should be commended for their resilience and not caving in to bullying tactics.

You may want to find out both side of the story, as you put it, before you make on informed decision as to which is the best path to go down.

Unfortunately, a few members on this forum don't have one iota of common sense to be objective.

Our football is for the members by the members and we don't want some rich fat cat coming in guns blazing, promising the world and delivering diddly squat.

This.

Some people on this forum need to understand that this deal was indeed to good to be true.

I think alot of people on here are failing to read what happened today!! NATHAN TINKLER cancelled the offer not Burro or Tew! Burro and Tew were happy to see this to the mebers but wanted the contract with every detail on it for us to vote on! I was gutted when I had heard this today I too wanted our juniors back ( idris , bird etc) but after thinking about it and looking over yesterdays letter from Tew there were definetly things that needed to be addressed! Don't shoot the admin fpr triple checking it! Think about it we could have been voting on it but Tinks has pulled out not the Knights!

You only have to read the facebook comments to know how many fans are furious at this whole situation with the board.

6,000 of them? All of them members?

If not, then it doesnt matter.

100 of them can force a Board re-election. But you still need numbers to vote in a new board, and Tinkler needs 6000+ to take over the club. And I think after todays antics he has done himself no favours.

You keep saying this, but what are your reasons for thinking it is too good to be true?

You only have to see Tinkler's behaviour over the past few days to realise he is an impatient selfish brat. Fatboy has already defamed and dragged Snowdens name through the mud.

**** Tinkler and **** the Jets! :)

Why did he cancel though??? Yes he may have been sick and tired of the procrastination of the board. maybe something else we have not heard???

Because like I have said before, Tinkler pulled his offer shortly after the board queried the fine print of his deal. This looks very bad on Tinkler's part. Why was he so impatient? Why didn't he just address the concerns the members have over his deal? why did he walk away? This makes Tinkler out to be an impatient business man who clearly didn't have the best interest for the knights.

I am not saying that Burro and Tew are definetly right in this situation, but it certainly opens up more questions towards Tinkler and wether he is in fact the best thing for this club.

He wants the deal done before season commences??? Ofocurse he'd be wanting to hurry and get ****e done.

How has he dragged snowdens name through mud? was the mystery third party actually tinkler?

He's a business man who doesnt like to wait. Plenty of others eactly like him around/.

He is an impatient *****.

I don't blame the board for wanting to check over it, the whole deal has seemed shonky ever since the Snowden debacle.

Your saying to get both sides of the story. Are you, yourself getting both sides of the story?

Check back on page 9, tell me if that is diddly squat.

Considering I won't let my personal feelings get in the way of this ongoing saga, I have looked at both sides of the story.

The club is currently achieving the $10 million per year in income via sponsorships that Tinkler is promising to also match and have been doing for many years.

How does a 'trust me' deal for junior development hold up in court if Tinkler decides not to inject any money in junior development?

If he was to offer over and above the current $10 million per year the club is already achieving, then I'd be the first one to vote YES, but that is not the offer.

Privatization of any organisation needs careful thought and due process. If Tinkler couldn't front up to the conference today, to iron out some of the misinterpretations of the offer, then he shouldn't be the owner of this great club...simple.

Yes, he has the power to influence, we've seen that (David Beckham coming to Newy), but at what cost? Does the Knights become a haven for superstars only and no chance for juniors to come through the ranks and play for this proud club?

He seems to want to act above anyone else, no respect for individuals who are just wanting the best for the club. If Tinkler does get his way, then, we'll just be another tick off his bucket list.

Because like I have said before, Tinkler pulled his offer shortly after the board queried the fine print of his deal.

Sick of all the roadblocks??? I dunno, no one knows the exact reason (apart from him being impaitent) as to why he walked away. There is probably more happening then we realise or have been told.

This looks very bad on Tinkler's part.

No, its like you wait and wait and wait for something and think argh fk it youve had enough waiting you'll move on. Or youve had enough dealing with certain people and dont wanna have to any more.

Why was he so impatient?

Didnt the want everthing done before the season or very soon after it started?

Why didn't he just address the concerns the members have over his deal?

What members have concerns? Obviously you do. No deal that will be put forward will satisfy all members and every deal will have members with concerns. If you use that logic, every deal we have will not get passed, or even a chance to be voted because of "concerns"

why did he walk away? This makes Tinkler out to be an impatient business man who clearly didn't have the best interest for the knights.

Sick of playing games with an inept board??

I don't know obviously has his reasons but instead of throwing the knights into turmoil for the second straight year both sides need to be looked at! Footy starts in 18 days let the club and tinkler sort there stuff out and let's support NEWCASTLE 2011 not 2012

The club is currently achieving the $10 million per year in income via sponsorships that Tinkler is promising to also match and have been doing for many years.

And if it falls below this for some reason how are the losses recouperated? By accumulating debt.

It doesnt.

If he was to offer over and above the current $10 million per year the club is already achieving, then I'd be the first one to vote YES, but that is not the offer.

No he is ensuring the club has a gaurenteed ammount of income, not an income based on possiblities due to recent history. He is also clearing the debt and ensuring no more is accumulated. Whilst he does not say he will put extra money into the knights, doesnt mean he will not.

no chance for juniors to come through the ranks and play for this proud club?

They have their chance and then they move on and become better elsewhere. Whats the point of nurturing talent if we cant keep it?

I can tell you why Tinkler pulled out . He was asked to guarantee the boards jobs for the next three years and Tinkler doesn't want to keep them , he wants to sack them , they refused to put the vote to the members until the board was safe .

 so your better option is to not worry about junior development at all then?

If we are going to develop the juniors we need to keep them, otherwise the investment is moot. Tinkler can acheive that.

I never said do away with it, but at the end of the day, whatever makes your team a strong sucessful one. You can have a team filled with local juniours that you have developed and constantly perform poorly, (but thats ok, their locals that we developed), or you can "import" and constantly perform well. It's a competition, whats the point of being a club in it, if you cant compete?

Tinkler said he would offer a substantial sum towards j-dev, but it was not a written term in the deal though. Which means he could put money towards it as he saw fit.

Mind revealing your source?

going to a bit of effort their arn't you? You seem to forget the fact that privatisation takes time. You can't just walk in with mountains of cash (in Tinkler's case: " I have money that you may or may not have") and expect the club to bow down to you.

Tinkler had to go through the process of the Knights constitution which he failed to do so. This raises serious questions on his real intentions for the Knights. He says he wanted it wrapped up before the season starts but why is that so incredibly important. If he had the best intentions for the Knights he would have waited.

I can understand the frustration of many members of this forum. I was excited to at the prospects: Financial security, attracting bigger star players, becoming a powerhouse club etc. But even with Tinkler this was no garuentee of happening.

I know some people won't agree with me but I will just put that down to disappointment. However this disappointment shouldn't be an excuse for saying stupid things like "the club will merge or fold" or "the board should be sacked". for once, the board actually had the best interest for the club today.

In the end however this could just be a ploy for Tinkler to get the favour of the masses and get the board voted out. If this does happen I hope that Tinkler does put the Knights at heart otherwise I can garuentee that people like you will be back on here complaining about how Tinkler has ruined the Knights and how we should have voted no.

Yeah I'm sure that's exactly what happened
