The pre-season 2026 thread

I just had a good laugh.

Zero tackle article listing Ponga, Brown, LUCAS, Young and Saifiti as the ones needing to improve in 2026.

Sighting lucas defence as an area needing improvement.
Wouldn’t we all be hoping and praying he still had improvement in him. To go from good to elite. Given our stocks I think we are backing that improvement in and if it doesn’t happen we will struggle. That would be my take on that comment. It’s important he fulfills what we are backing him for.

Yeah framing it as him "NEEDING to improve" is probably harsh but him becoming as good in defence as he already is in attack would be nice. He has improved in that area but there were still games where he was a target (especially when next to Cogger).

IMO I think Lucas is already elite, there isn’t a soul I’d replace Lucas with in all of world league.

I just think the others around him need to get better, if he stays at this level and other reach it we win a premiership 🤷

If he was elite he’d be first picked for rep honours. He’s bloody good no doubt he will get much better than he currently is imo. He’s no Crighton 2024 that’s elite

I don't like the way the article is slanted, but I do think the list of players they came up with are the list we want to see go to a new level in '26 if we are to thrive - and they all have another level in them IMO.

If you’ve bothered to read his interview he was than the knights upped their offer
I dont doubt you heard good info from a close source. Circumstances change. Doesnt mean you were throwing bs into the forum. You had good info, things changed.

Its happened to me a few times over the years where I heard good info from friends and family of players

Main sports article in the Herald today is an interview with Frizell where he says he will wait till mid season before deciding if he will play on in 2027.
Frizz talks about how he enjoys the hard work in pre-season to set himself up for the year and reflects on the number of young forwards he is training with this year, without giving any insights into them.
He describes Holbrook and all the new staff and players as "a breath of fresh air" and says they are putting a lot more responsibillity on the players - which I take to mean he isn't a control freak like O'Brien, but Frizz is too polite to say that.

If you look at Brad’s post history, the circumstances seem to change on most pieces of inside info he posts lol.
