Cannot believe that Derrick Rose is missing out on the rest of the NBA season again after 18 months he tore his ACL. This time a torn meniscus which normally takes about 6 to 8 weeks to heal. WTF? I wish the Bulls should have paid Nate Robinson.

Now we're a bit more than 1/3 through the season, who's everyones MVP so far?

For mine, it's Kawai Leonard, Paul George 2nd, Draymond Green a close 3rd. That's just how I see it, LeBron hasn't been that great and Steph Curry will likely be MVP again after the Warriors run so far, but there's more deserving players IMO.

Also, on the Warrios, the big question is... will they beat the 95-96 Bulls 72-10? I think they will, but I hope they don't. Simply to the fact that that Bulls team are 2 times the team the Warriors and it'll be an underserving comparison for the Warriors.

Big trade today with Luka Doncic going to the Lakers and Anthony Davis going the other way heading to Dallas.

Very rare you see a top player get traded let alone for just one draft pick. LA big winners in this trade.
 
Luka is going to be a top 25 player of all time, has the potential to be top 10, and this is the only time in NBA history a team has ever traded a guy that good on purpose in or near their prime because they wanted someone else. It has never happened before and probably never again.
 
As much as I dislike the Lakers and all the glamour that is around them (similar to the Roosters), I'd have no problem seeing Luka with a ring with them as an up yours to the Mavs and their utter stupidity.
Even other stuff coming out recently about his work ethic issues is such a cop out when it comes to your franchise players

Also similar to the Roosters it'll create an era of bandwagon fans like it did when Kobe/Shaq played for them, and later on Lebron.

The only way they survive this disaster is if he falls off a cliff or has some freak injury. Funnily enough Davis is basically going through his injury now when in the short term (this year included) it was meant to benefit them.

So the Mavericks' karmic punishment for trading away Luka Doncic is: The second best draft prospect of the 2020's. Sports are so stupid. :lol:

I do appreciate that the anger at the Mavs is again taking the heat off my Spurs being kissed on the **** in the draft lottery... Dylan Harper would be the #1 prospect in a lot of drafts.

They got so lucky. But... watching the lakers get whooped with him and Lebron was so funny. Maybe he wasn't the player we all think he is. Hope the Bulls pickup some good talent in the draft would be good for Giddey to play finals.
 
That Lakers team has heaps of issues still, which are hard to paper over in the playoffs. They should probably look at trading Austin Reaves for something.
 
It's funny if you actually check out the history the worst team does not always get the first overall pick. In fact it's far less then what we think. These days you're just giving yourself a chance of having the top pick rather then the best chance. But I guess it's why they're tried to make it more of a lottery.
Every team bar one voted for this when it came to it. The Thunder were the only team who didn't. Because they didn't want to make it tougher on smaller market teams (like them) who when they are terrible don't get the best pick.
Philly bottoming out for a number of years (including that 10 win season) before Simmons played in his second season probably didn't help either.

For what it's worth the actual lottery itself is there for everyone to view on Youtube, prominent reporters of the NBA are there in flesh to report on it and explain how it works. Zach Lowe one of the best guys out there (and very few worth listening to) describes it really nicely on his podcast.

I do think it can be revised at how much of a chance the rest of the field gets depending on your standing but I also dislike the play-in so I guess it's what they voted for in the end.
 
Yeah if they specifically change the rules to make it less likely that the worst three teams get rewarded for OTT tanking, it's maybe not that surprising to see teams that didn't tank get rewarded with higher picks. It all seems totally fair outside of the Mavericks being rewarded for their incompetence... I say, totally unbiased, as a fan of the team that just got the #2 pick, the #4 pick the year before, and the best prospect since LeBron the year before that, and which is the only franchise in NBA history to never move down in the draft order after the lottery is drawn...

I don't think you'll ever eliminate the tanking completely. There will always be bad teams, we just don't want to see as many teams with less then 20 wins. And then there were ridiculous situations where Utah were sitting guys as injured for bogus reasons (coming up with new injuries).
But when you look at the type of guys teams get like Edwards, Cunningham, Banchero, Wemby, Flagg it's kind of worth it so I get why teams take a chance, it almost propels you into a playoff team pretty much. I wouldn't want to see too many teams getting multiple top picks for that matter.
Last year was one of the few times where there wasn't a clear cut #1 or star player though Castle will be legit a long term starter, All Star etc.

My team, Orlando basically got shafted down a spot based off their record ranking each year they bottomed out after trading Dwight but still missed on some of them, so there's always a chance you don't hit. Including the year Cleveland magically got a top pick when Lebron came back lol.

This time around, much better luck...Paolo/Franz/Suggs you're cheering and set. Getting a Home Run top pick pays off. Other times you get Zion Williamson who got more hype then some of those other guys but the Pelicans are still in purgatory.
