Another quality half may become available, remember what happened with Mitchell Pearce, and yes if we can’t sign Pezet, Cogger can be our half for next year.

I thought Hastings would work out well for us and he did for a year but this he was very disappointing. I also was wrong about him being the halfback we needed.
About every 2-3 years a new half comes through. Galvin the most recent. Another gun will be running around by 2026, perhaps two.

If we can't convince Melb to release their 4th string half a year early so that he can steer his own team around on big money in Newcastle then we're doing something wrong. I'll be disappointed if we don't have Pezet here for next season.

The only potentially complicating factor is that there's whispers the Dragons are gonna go hard for Wishart.

But - Wishart isn't injured, and he also has way more utility value than Pezet as he's primarily a runner who can play pretty much anywhere in the backline or at hooker. Jonah is an out-and-out halfback. Wishart will always make Melbourne's 17 next year in jersey 14 irrespective of whoever else is available, but Jonah only plays if Munster or Hughes is injured. I'm sure they won't be keen to just punt him, but ultimately he's more replaceable for them than Wishart (anyone who's only a back-up half at their current club is always keen to go to Melbourne, because if you're just going to be biding your time and learning, why not do it under Bellamy?), and yeah if he agrees to sign for us, they're in a situation where as Billy said, they're paying for a bunch of months of rehab for a guy who might not be available to play for them until about midway through the year.

I’ve heard good things about Tom Duffy but I’m now very wary of guys from far North Queensland.
Gonna say no, looks promising but not keen on us signing Cowboys players now especially after how Clifford went here unless they're a destined superstar eg Ponga, Hammer.

Where does Gamble fit in to all this, given he has just resigned for two years? I don't think a Cogger/Gamble combination is the way to go, I think we need more strike in the halves then that provides.

Tyson doesn’t make that much money, hasn’t signed with us under the expectation of being guaranteed a jersey, seems like a player other players like, and he has utility value (you could honestly have him be the player who spells Adam Elliott, I trust him to hold his gloves up defensively). That’s how he fits.

The Storm must know they are going to lose atleast one, or even both of them for 26. They have added a halfback and a 5/8 to their development list for 2025. So clearly getting ready to replace upcoming departures.

Throw it all at walker for 7.
Gamble at 5/8 at the beginning.
Crossland at 9.
Pryce at 14, and see what happens with Gamble. May swap depending on how Pryce comes along, and Gamble has a bit more versatility at this stage.
Perfect.

Can’t understand the remarks on Clifford, yes he showed good form yes his form dropped off, but why.
Later well documented about his family life, his partner/wife not being happy in Newcastle, away from family and support whilst having a young child.
Nothing to do with football or his ability but must have been tough, hope all is better family wise and he is happy with football as well

Who were those, out of interest?
Not that many guys actually played NRL here. Mostly lower grade guys that arrived and left after a year.

Signed KP (superstar), Tuala (solid), Clifford, Shibasaki? Or was he at Broncos here (legit one of the worst players I've seen, will never forget him bombing a large overlap), Paul Bryan who should be a first grader, Edward Hampson who lasted a year, McKenzie Baker also 1 year and Moceidreke 1 year and a half.

I'm only going from 2018 to now. Mitchell Sargent is blonde headed forward. Played only one year in 2007.

I've got a random and unsusual dislike for the Cowboys from dealing fans on social media in the past and also Cowboyman 😂 and Clifford not kicking on like I'd hope.

Volkman not a bad option. Certainly better than Ilias.

All are signed to their clubs long term but I'm interested whether Zane Harrison, Coby Black and Mitch Woods all kick on in the next few years. All 18 years old same age as Haami Loza.

We had a blonde headed forward from North Queensland by the name Mitchell ? Who went alright too.
He played well for the Cows from memory. But his career with us was very brief and he was released after a few games,

We signed Gehamat Shibasaki and that didn’t work out.
