The Commentators Thread!

I do get that feeling with Ennis and to some extent Blocker being bias against us. I would also throw in Anasta.

I like Vossy, have not noticed bias, although I’m often at a bar watching the fox games so don’t hear the commentary all the time.

From the fox team I think Cronk is the best. Although I don’t think he commentates? He’s a good analyst.

The nine team Slater is good. Similar to Cronk but even better. Love Joeys blow ups and random calls at times.
 
The worst thing they do with "commentators" is that thing they do at halftime when they go to 3 guys who do nothing except heap scorn on various players and kill the mood completely.
I can't imagine anyone from any club actually likes having some grumpy old has beens whining halfway through the game.
I turn down the sound, go to the loo, make a cup of coffee, and check what people are saying on here at halftime.
I don't listen to Ennis and Anasta etc rabbiting on about how **** the game is these days.
 
Rabs is the GOAT. No question.

I hated Billy Slater the player but I reckon he's the smartest & most eloqient colour commentator at the minute.

Warren Smith is probably my preferred play by play guy right now.
 
Rabs definitely went a bit senile for his last 15 years or so though.

90s and noughties he was one of the best sports commentators ever.
 
Rabs is obviously the best to ever do it, but as James said, you could tell he probably should’ve gave it away a couple of years before he eventually did.

I like Vossy probably the most, but someone who is underrated is Dan Ginnane. I love how expressive and energetic he is, and his “goodbye!” when a try is scored is pretty goated.
 
I like Vossy in terms of colour and creativity. I think my favourite though is probably Brenton Speed, loved him on A-League commentary and he does a great job on NRL commentary. I'm not a big fan of Mat Thompson though, feel like he just shouts.
 
I also really like Vossy, I think he has the best voice for it but my favourite to listen to talk about the game is Cronk. Cooper is just so smart and tells it how it is.
For Channel 9 Fitler is slower then the bunker... I do enjoy John's alot but I think it's more because of the banter

I used to like Ginnane when he just did Triple M. Gone off him a bit since he’s been doing Fox as well.

I like Warren Smith And Vossy. Blocker and anemia give me the ****s. Reckon Cronk should get more time as a game analyst. Anasta seems to have had some journo training and talks to slow these days and comes across like a toss
 
I think Dan Ginnane is the best play by play caller imo. Better on radio but still good on fox. Has passion in his commentary but doesn't overdo it like the next bloke I'm gonna to mention.

Mat Thompson is that bloke and is definitely the worst play by play caller. Rubbish commentator and is a good reason why I stopped watching Freddy and the Eighth this year. He's woeful on that as well.

Billy Slater is the best colour commentator going around right now. Don't mind Joey. Cronk's ok but a bit boring.

Ray Warren at his peak was the best caller.
 
Ennis keeps using his position as a commentator to bag the Knights. It’s unprofessional and tedious.

He should not commentate on Knights games.

He shouldn’t commentate any games he’s horrific.

Warren Smith is good, so is Matt Russell. Ginnane is ok when he’s not shouting. I always thought Andrew Moore was a really good caller but I don’t know what happened to him.

Sterlo was great and is really missed. Very knowledgeable and unbiased.
