The Blues' 5/8

A major talking point for State of Origin this year is who the NSW Blues' five-eighth will be. Mitchell Pearce is safe at Halfback, and the top contenders to partner him are James Maloney, Josh Reynolds, Todd Carney and John Sutton. In your opinion, who is the best suited five-eighth to lead NSW to victory?

I personally think Mullen because he has the best kicking game and also possesses a great passing game not to mention he is dangerous when he runs the ball. I think they will go with Carney if he is fit if not they will go with the roosters combo of Maloney and Pearce

What more does Maloney have to do? Team playing well, he's scored a mountain of points already, awsome kicking game, combines well with Pearce and is a tough bugger...

I hope they finally give Mullen another crack! His kicking, passing and defence is a stand out IMO and he's quiet quick off the mark too.

If they can pick him after 9 NRL games because of his talent they can pick him now!!

I think it'll be neck and neck with Mullen and Maloney. Both have a similar style of game. They both set-up heaps of tries, kicking games to keep the defence tired and able to score tries themselves.

Well Daley was on NRL MNF with Matty Johns and Mullen did not even get a mention from either guys, so I don't like his chances. I'd go with Maloney if Pearce is reportedly locked in.

Pearce is only 23... I found this interesting, feels like he's been around for a long time.

Maloney for sure would be my pick. I think mullen's name would be chucked around more if they didn't do that to him. I can't believe they would pick a half after 9 games for SOS.

After that performance from Maloney I can definitely see him in the #6 for the blues. Kicking exceptional, try assists and a try. One of the best games I've seen him play.

I've never thought of Josh Reynolds as a main playmaker for NSW, he doesn't seem like a player that you would pick as a starting 6 or 7. The reasons he's come into contention during 2012 is because of his energy & passion, that's why i think of him as a bench weapon. I really would not like him in any team i was following if he was in a main playmaking role.

Guess the game Between the Roosters and Bulldogs has put Maloney in front now..he would have to be the odds on favourite

I never thought J. Reynolds was ever really up to the level of others, imo the only players that should be considered are mullen, no one has had the kicking game he has had this year and his passing and try assisting is up there with the best, Maloney, the in form 5/8 and just overall performance and is great with goal kicking, and Carney if not injured because his leadership and control of the team with spurts of amazing attack.
