It cracks me up how you all get pumped up over who plays where, one player over the other in the second row, for example.

When in reality, the first choice team takes the field in round one if you're lucky, then never again because players get injured and you just pick who's available.

HUH? I had Taylor already replace Lillyman. HIghly doubtful Taylor wont be there, and he offers more then Costigan thus would be there before him. THe only way for Costigan to make it back is replacing Parker, which Parker deserve to stay in the team, or mass injuries. Even then he would have competition from other guys as well.
For me Parker needs to Start or not be in t he team at all!. Complete waste of time having him on the bench. So I'd have Costigan over Parker as well. Especially given the fact that Costigan provides more impact off the bench then Parker plus can cover FRF and 2RF

Without trying to offend, there is so many things wrong with that team.

Kurt at lock would be good because locks dont have to play like forwards.

Newcastle's lock plays "tight", it's the same at the Dragons too.
Watch where Edwards lines up on Sunday. If Gidley played in the same position he'd have to make 30+ tackles against front rowers, 10+ hitups and very little ball playing in a game.

Oh, and he's never played there before.

He'd make the same amount of tackles playing hooker, and would make 10+ dummy half runs instead of hitups.

Gidley's the type of player who's good enough and versatile enough to play quality football at a number of positions, including lock, but there's no way I'm playing him there. Just because he can doesn't mean he should.

Also you've left out Hilder who coincidentally plays his best footy at lock.

A dummy half scoot and a hitup are very different things.

If he were hooker he'd also pass the ball (something he is good at) 75+ times a game and throw in a few kicks (something he is OK at).
He might have <5 passes at lock and no kicks.

The hooker question is really puzzling to me. We let DeGois go, Hilder's service is slow and I don't think Bennett will use Gidely there. They want Buderus bad but wishing won't make it so.

Can't wait for the trial games next year.

I don't agree with Gidley at lock and I wouldn't even consider it but you play to your players strengths and I certainly think Bennett's smart enough to do that.

If Gidley were at lock, I highly doubt he'd be asking him to play like another front rower, more like another fullback in attack. His defensive workload would obviously be the same as it would if he were at hooker too, where people think he maybe best suited.

i get where your coming from. most locks play in the way that your explaining like Paul Gallen And Ash Harrison but like i said locks can do what they want on the field. and if gidley played lock he wouldnt play like a foward. he would play as another 5/8. and get in the back line wear ever he wants to. and he might not kick the ball as much as Jarrod but he will kick the ball. Lock would suit the style of footy kurt plays
