Well the Rugby League Week article says the Dragons are looking at some of their younger forwards now, so an NYC talent. Brown would take a good NYC player over an old reserve grader like the guys who have been offered up.
 
Apart from Matthews and Marketo, the Dragons have;

Joel Thompson,
Jack De Belin,
Tyson Frizel,
Mike Copper,
Damius Lui, and now,
Tariq Sims.

All bying for backrow spots. All of them can't fit in to 3 starting spots, so someone like Joel Thompson or Jack De Belin might be interested in an early release to ensure they get a start each week??? I'd take any of those players to be honest. One on one swap I'd only look at the the four I highlighted though.
 
Jack De Belin is very good mates with Alex McKinnon, who is on our recruitment team.
Just sayin.
 
If dragons said no to releasing Cooper there is zero chance they release de belin or frizell.

Thompson no better than what we already have.

Please God, don't let us sign Marketo or Matthews. On the other hand I'd love to have de Belin or Cooper but 0 chance, ughhh.
 
Leilua played in the 2014 schoolboys with Cogger and Lamb.
I suspect he'd join his brother at Canberra if he left Saints.
Can't see his brother recommending Newcastle for him.
 
Coopers been given an early release by the Dragons. He's on his way back to England at the end of the season, for family reasons.
 
If Knights do a one on one swap and don't get Jack De Belin or Joel Thompson for "our star and high paid Tariq Sims' then we look weak to other nrl clubs. We have star players getting released over the past few years and getting nothing back but fringe grade players or no one at all.
 
Mate we are weak! Thats why we are where we are and lose our best juniors on a yearly bases!
This will never change until the club has a very strong and powerful backbone $$$.
 
I was disappointed to hear in the telecast last night that Tevita Pangai rang Wayne Bennett and asked for a trial at the Broncos when he was leaving Canberra.
It was probably a good career move by him, but i'd like to think he at least thought about coming back to Newcastle - not that i'd be a fan - he has a lot of natural talent but not much effort at times.

Meh, can't say I'd be bothered either way. It's only a few months and he'll be off anyway.
 
Well he has stopped the rubbish signings and is fixing our cap.

Last year Tariq probably would have signed for 4 years with a 20% upgrade.

His Signed 7 i think? players only 2 are playing first grade atm and he wouldnt get a start at many clubs. Pauli and Paea
We are yet to see what Elliot and Barnett will provide our side... though with average across the park i cant see them being supertar signings.
Yes that being negitive and im sorry guys! Though thats what my thoughts are atm.
A win would be great lol

Paea was a Hagan signing.

The only firstgraders signed by Brown so far are Peter Mataútia and Pauli Pauli - both fringe players.
All the others he has signed are young reserve graders on reserve grade money, so any that turn into firstgraders are a bonus.
 
There was nothing left to sign, we took so long to appoint him.

And the salary cap is so messed up, until he's finished getting rid of the dead wood, we still can't really sign anyone.

So we won't know his recruitment skills for a while yet.
