State Of Origin - Game 3

I thought the in-air tackle call was crucial, if we hadn't given away that penalty, we would have won IMO. Farah was a little shaky in his first captaincy, but will be better in the future from it. We really did miss Gallen last night, and he would have been dying to get out there. Queensland, what can I say, champions stay champions. Bring on Origin 2014.
 
Well, I thought Tamou was crap, especially in the first half. Three runs for 28 metres, no wonder I was wondering what had happened to him at halftime. Ended up with ten runs for 88 metres, pretty poor.

Hoffman definitely had a good game, 17 runs for 142 metres - only five metres behind Watmough as NSW's top metre eater in the forwards, from the same amount of runs.

I agree 100% (besides hofman i thought he was solid) Morris brothers done NOTHING in a while, jennings seen no early ball from the halves they have BOTH got to go! Uate right win james left wing!
 
Snowden's the biggest metre earner in the comp which is even more impressive considering his poor form early in the year. He's been the best prop in the NRL for the last 2-3 months, how he wasn't playing is beyond me. If he started or even came off the bench instead of Woods/Cordner he would've had far more impact. I thought most played great except for the halves obviously, every year Pearce has deserved to be dropped and every year he's still there. Hopefully they get it right next year and go with Carney and Mullen.

Barely had the ball when he was on. QLD dominated the first 15-20 minutes as evident in Scott's first half stint of 10 runs for 94m. What turned the game for us is when Scott went off and Watmough came on for us.

2nd half when we dominated shows Tamou running for more metres then Scott.

Farrah came up with some shocking plays but that's understandable considering he was our only option capable of setting up a try against them. We missed Hayne badly in that department and desperately need to get rid of both Pearce and Maloney.

2. McManus - a winger we truly need in Origin in my opinion, knows the right action to take, defuses bombs like a boss & B.Morris has done nothing of late

5. Ferguson - has a bit of x-factor about him

6. Mullen - awesome kicking game
7. Carney - awesome kicking game

I can't believe Pearce & Maloney got the job, can't kick for **** & we need a good kicking game in Origin. Adam Reynolds is another choice but I prefer Mullen & Carney because they are more experienced & would handle the situation better.

8. Snowden - biggest meter gainer in the comp behind Inglis
9. Farah - our best hooker & attacking weapon with Maloney & Pearce in the side
10. Gallen (c) - inspirational captain
11. Lewis - usually great in Origin
12. Bird - always great in Origin
13. Watmough - always great in Origin

Hoffman has played well this series but these guys are a class above

14. Sutton/Idris - both in great form, both pretty versatile, keep the form up & you'll get a go
15. Fifita - awesome
16. Merrin - good player
17. Tamou/Grant - Tamou needs to step up, has looked average this series, Grant is next option

Nearly made it in my number 13 pushing Merrin back to the bench with Snowden then falling off the bench.

He should come very close to making the side next year. Will definitely be playing origin once Gallen, Bird, Lewis etc call it a day.

Tamou will be lucky to play again, he'll be even luckier to play for Australia. I'd have Scott, Gallen, Myles and Fifita ahead of him. I hope Woods doesn't get picked again next year, he just doesn't seem physically up to it. On current form I'd choose the exact side Josh Hill chose.

SO apparently the solution to NSW's problems, if you listen to the opinions, is Adam Reynolds.

Throw out Mitch Pearce, bring in Reynolds and the problem is solved. Queensland lose next year, order is restored. I can't believe how quick we are to turn on our own.

Perseverance has never been one of our strong points, and just when we are starting to get things right we want to throw it all out and start again.

A big trick to Origin is having the strength to remain staunch.It's the first thing the past eight years should have taught us, but for some reason it's the last thing we consider.

Continually changing sides has been one of our big problems throughout Queensland's eight-year streak, and a reason why we have always seemed to be coming from behind.

One of the key things I wanted when I coached the Blues, and Laurie Daley continued when he took over, was to create stability.We're slowly creating that.

What's the Buzz: Greg Bird wanted State of Origin captaincy



NOT everyone was happy about the appointment of Robbie Farah as Blues captain - including one of his teammates.

Greg Bird felt he had done enough to get the nod when Paul Gallen was ruled out.He even approached coach Laurie Daley to question him on the decision.

Bird has won three State of Origin man of the match awards and has been a long-time Blues mainstay.

Still, as Daley pointed out, Farah was already the vice-captain when the team was originally chosen.

Farah would be the first to admit that he didn't have one of his better games on Wednesday night.He is a wonderfully gifted player but lacks Cameron Smith's leadership qualities.

I cannot understand the people who wanted Snowden. Look at Woods... Best prop in NRL in everyone's eyes this year and did nothing but get smashed...

Same went for Snowden when he last played & others like Jason King and Michael Weyman.

They are no Andrew Fifita with that luxury at Origin level and are not Matt Scott's and Petero's either.

Origin is for the taller men, that's it.
 
You can't say that just yet. Woods & Snowden have only played 2 games. Trent Merrin was thrown in early too & looked like crap but now he's one of NSW's best players. I can just see Snowden running like he does ferociously at the QLD line like he does at club level, I reckon he'd do we'll with another chance just like McManus.
 
Out of the limited minutes played between Snowden, Woods and Grant. Grant has easily looked the better. Can't believe people including myself have forgotten about him this year. Largely due to an injury at the wrong though I must admit. But fully fit he should be in the 17 next year.

I think Woods has got shown up big time this year. Been a classic case of quantity over quality. He plays the most minutes out of any prop hence why his stats are so good. Just looked way out of his league at origin this year.

I don't get that last bit of the post because Matt Scott isn't exactly that tall. He is rather short compared to most props running around these days.

Point is with the last part that Matt Scott is a rarity, like Webcke. He can consistently play prop and do well, like Gallen.

The others mentioned aren't like him.
