State of Origin - Decider: NSW v QLD @ ANZ

The following are my thoughts on the game that I have posted on another forum.

We could have so won that.

The Blues lack the creativity and "passion" for want of a better word (sorry, as a Blues fan, that's how I saw it) during the middle of the second half. We had so many chances and we look the better team, but we kept going up the middle and turning it back inside. The wingers/centres rarely got to see the ball.

What I wanted to see was Hayne getting the ball more, and to kick the ball to Monaghan to contest for the ball more in attack.

Pearce was alright, but not good. He didn't have too many 5th tackle options. Most of them kicking to one side of the field. Needs run the ball on the last tackle a bit more or show some creativity. Anasta was the same, and I'm disappointed that he didn't bring his form with the Roosters into the game.

Buderus played his heart out in this game I reckon. Unfortunate that he couldn't get the fairytale ending he wanted. Gidley I reckon play really good, and left me wondering why they took him off. He ended up gaining the most meters in the game (from both sides). Bellamy should have kept Gidley at fullback and moved Stewart to the wing.

Quinn didn't play good at all. Even though he had the hard task of Folau to take on, I still would've thought he could try a bit harder. The first try he had no pressure on him at all, but still dropped the bal straight into Folau's hand.

The referee, I wasn't that happy with. Although he made mistakes, it was fairly even for both sides. Except that the critical call at the end might have turn things around. Can't blame it all on the ref though, as we did not use the chances.

Gallen played a shocker of a game. Drop balls and silly penalties. You should not expect that in Origin and with someone with experience. Where was Tupou – talk about missing in action. I only saw him playing for 5 minutes in the whole game – a little exaggeration, but true.

Cross, Hoffman and Fitzgibbon was probably the best forwards during the game. Mason didn't do as much as I expected from him after all the talking.

And to the Dally M award. How did Cameron Smith get 3 points for that game? Should have been Thurston or Folau. Buderus should have gotten at least one.

And Folau. What a freak! Jumping that high and scoring a try upside down without caring whether he will land on his neck or not. Most other players would have tried to protect themselves.

I felt sorry for Prince who came back from injury, made it to the state team, and then to get injured again during the first half. Kudos to Qld for fighting back after that.

Bellamy, I reckon should stay. He needs to take Blues to a win before he can retire from the Origin team.

Congratulations to the Maroons. I would loved to see the Blues to win, but it wasn't to be.

Next year, this is what I want to see.

1. Gidley
2. Hayne
3. Gasnier
4. Cooper
5. (in form winger at the time)
6. Mullen
7. Finch (Wallace, if NSW wants to look to the future)

9. Farah (any other choices?)

I think if De Gois plays well at the Knights next year he'll be able to contest for the no.9 jumper. At this stage Kurt and Brett are doing well as fullbacks. You'll have to wait till next year and see how well they perform. Folau is a tall guy, much taller then Anthony Quinn but the first try was just a gift from Quinn to Folau.

Farah would be my choice. He has a good kicking game too.

1. Stewart (He really has done nothing wrong)
2. Monaghan
3. Gasnier
4. Cooper
5. Hayne
6. Anasta
7. Pearce (Keep him)

9. Farah

12. Heighington (For Mason)

14. Gidley

Attack Attack Attack!

My team for next year (some players are not filled)

1. Stewart
2. Rooney ( or someone that can jump high then Quinn. Maybe grothe if he stops coming off his wing and gets better.
3. Gasnier
4. coops
5. Hayne
6. Anasta
7. Mullen/ Peace
8. Kite
9. Farrah
10. Bailey
11. Laffranchi
12 Fitzy ( if he reiters then Highieton
13 Bird
----------
14 cross
15 Gids
16 mason
17 Gallen ( has show his a play who gives dumb penlites

I didn't think Archer decided the game ... the fact that we were hopeless in attack and only scored four tries all series did!

I hope that Quinn, Anasta, Gallen, Mason and White don't play origin again, because they were all terrible.

Quinn was better than Hayne IMO, only the one bad stuff up and thats all i saw wrong, Hayne on the other hand didnt really get tested much, which is suprising considering he was on the same side as new boy Monahan
