Pat? Lets give a reserve grade becnh player 200k a season, thats good cap managment.
I like Sione and have stuck up for him numerous times on here. He got 450k a season as a current Australian rep, on his form this year hes not worth that imo. Thats why i believe 200k a year for 4 years is a good deal for the knights and i dont think he will get a contract like that else where. He is on the improve the last 3 weeks which is great.
 
200k is a great deal for the Knights but it won’t happen. He’ll be getting 300-350 at least.

That was a contract signed several years ago, inflation etc makes it irrelevant, he is worth whatever a decent centre is worth, what ever that be, what are Moga and Ramien being paid.
 
Give him 300k, will make a decent depth signing next year. But won't be a first grade Centre unless things go badly for us again.

Geez throw a guy 300k to play reserve grade.....

The minimum wage for a fringe nrl player is 104k.
So either Sione is a fringe player worth between 104-150k
Or sione is a young talented player that could get 150-250k on a hope he'll become a great player.
This was the contract Sione is coming off this year but at 400ish k

So now Sione is either a top line nrl player with 80+ nrl games in which case he should get at least 400k
Or he is still a development player in which case he should get around a 300k offer.

In short, Sione is probably only worth 300k to us which is fair though id expect a 300k player to be in the 17
 
As it currently stands I think he’ll be in our 17 next year. There’s no guarantees with Moga and if push came to shove I think Brown would prefer Sione to Sio or Ross on the wing. He could also play a role off the bench if needed.

I know there’s a few on here who don’t rate him but I’m pretty sure Brown and the rest of our coaching staff do.
 
He is worth as much as Moga considering fitness and likely future, Moga knees, Sione concusion, if Moga can play as good as Sione did and he continues his improved form then with Ramien we are looking ok at centre and Denniss will get better.

Gee. It's not like a Knights fan to over inflate a players salary... Or over guess anyway.

Soine would get bites on the market for around 300k
So he's definitely worth at least 300k.
The problem is where do we play him next year on a 300k+ salary?
Backrow id doubt he'll get a spot.
Centre would also be tough with a healthy Moga plus Raimian and Denniss only getting better.
He could be our Mr fix it off the bench? Though with Watson and Griffin already in the side we have players in the starting 13 that can shift to multiple positions with minimal fuss to the side even more so if Levi is in the 17.

So imo Sione could get a 300k a year contract though is it worth it for us to give him that amount knowing he mite not make the 17?

That try and the line break he made were tough runs/lines like a back rower... I think next year back row off the bench, he can be our jamie.

Only change I'd make would be Sione to 17, and drop King/Grant.
