Season player reviews

I think we've rushed Best. We debuted him at 18 years of age & have kept him in the NRL side ever since. And he's dealt with multiple injuries throughout. At first it seemed all sweet because what he did with the ball was special, but he's clearly still a very young player who's been rushed. He hasn't had the chance to play at a lower standard of competition since he became an adult. His defence is not where it should be for a regular NRL first-grader.

You're right that he had a massive Origin series. Absolutely ate Jack Wighton's lunch. Looking at the highlights though, he was on the right for games 1 & 2, with Capewell on the left.
 
Best is playing like most young kids.
Timana Tahu could barely catch a ball when he was 18.
He was lucky enough to have a great centre looking after him, but it was about his 3rd year before you stopped holding your breath every time someone threw him a pass, because it was 50/50 if he was going to catch it.
 
Listening to Bloke in a Bar podcast and twice Dennan Kemp alluded to the fact that he's been chatting to connor watson and that he was offered a crack at starting hooker for roosters next year.

He is 100% effort though.
 
Connor Watson was good in he was hyper active showed dash and enthusiasm but seemed to lack football ability/nounce, was a poor passer, yes he did improve, despite his initial cost he couldn’t regularly settle on a position, was used mostly as a 14 coming of the bench to show some hype, change the game. He was extremely overpaid for what he could initially do. He wasn’t a 5/8 or a hooker so was transformed into a 14 come 13, had odd brilliant moments but never tied down a spot. Yes we loved him for who and what he is, liked his mateship with Ponga but bottom line is we have lost little. Sure would have been nice if he had stayed but that’s life. I wish him well but he is gone and we move on.
New 14, Mann likely, Crosslands maybe, but don’t compare them all different types, style and ages let’s just see what happens rather than compare.
