Sack Adam O’Brien

Joey is never going to coach. He has Epilepsy, and needs to avoid stress. The bloke has apparently said he can't handle driving up a freeway a few times per week, and people think he can take on an NRL head coaching role, at the biggest basket case club in the NRL?

We obviously need a new coach but Joey’s not a realistic option. He’s still got a great footy brain but the professionalism needed to survive in the modern game in that sort of role has passed him by. I’ve also never been blown away by his work with the halves at any club to be honest. Sometimes it’s hard for the greats to pass on their skills as it just comes naturally to them.

Genuine question, are the club aware that they and AOB are widely regarded as a laughing stock or do they just not care?
I find myself asking this same question, often, and I cannot understand it. Im sincerely stumped and just frankly surprised at how the club is behaving.

1. Sack the coach immediately

2. Tender for new coaches

3. Use the remainder of the year to prepare for next year. And see what a stand in coach can offer the squad, finish the year in some form and positivity.

Instead, the club appears to prefer to keep OB until seasons end, and potentially even keep the guy for next season? Wt actual f

Take some deep breaths and you will make it through.

What sets the greats apart isn't how well they can kick a ball, or pass either side etc, it's their vision. They see the game clearly, and ahead of time. Like a chess player thinking 8 moves ahead, vs someone only planning 1 or 2. Grand masters see chess games 10-15 moves ahead, I'm ok at chess and I can't comprehend seeing the game that far ahead, it's beyond me.

You just can't teach that. Teaching players technical skills is great, but if they can't read the game they won't utilise those skills as effectively.

We are in real danger now of picking up the wooden spoon.

Titans could jag another win against the Dolphins away, or the Tigers at home in the last round. Out points differential now is only 1 point better than theirs. We have Broncos, Sharks and then Eels (Combank) to finish the year. Hard to see us winning another game tbh.

Our best bet is the Eels away last game. Eels can't make the 8, and can't get the spoon, nothing to play for and hopefully they put in a performance that reflects that. We have the spoon to avoid.

There has been a fair amount of accommodation given to AOB for the teams performance this year, with the injury toll. Does winning the spoon get excused away as well?

After the first 10 rounds of the comp, we were 3-7. Yet another diabolical start to the season and right there, is where we have done the damage to find ourselves where we are now. Have a look at the side we ran out in round 10, no excuses from injury toll by that stage of the year. That came later.

I really doubt we’ll beat the Eels. Pretty sure when we’ve been out of finals contention, we haven’t won the final game of the season since we beat the Tigers back in 2007 to avoid the spoon.

As a club, for almost 20 years, we put the cue in the rack and don’t bother once we can’t make the eight.

Last few weeks and our defence completely falling apart have shown that again.

The Titans are a big chance to beat the Warriors this week I think. They haven't been playing well at all since all their injuries hit a few weeks back. The only team I think that are playing worse than them is us atm.

Toohey’s said whether we get the spoon or not won’t come into the decision.

I think it’s more likely the nature of the losses lately will/should have a bigger impact. It’s easy for the board to justify not making the move after being beaten by big margins against Storm, Raiders and Panthers when we’ve lost our best players, but the Cowboys are also **** and we played worse so hopefully there would be some mounting pressure.

It will be where it deserves to be as the titans have actually played some decent footy recently.

Warriors have to much it play for. They want to stay in the top 4. Yeah got some injuries but still a good squad. Warriors win that one.

Quite a few of the media talking up Josh Hanny. He would be the next coach in line.

It’s a risk signing another somewhat rookie coach, but will we be worse off? Give them a two year contract and see.
Yup. Exactly what should happen. We know AOB isnt the guy and we are stuck with him for 2 years if they dont punt him. Hannay could be the next Bellamy!. Its not the ideal choice but like you said sign him for 2 years if its not working out might be a more experienced coach pop up(although i doubt it)

I feel like this isn't such a risk now the CEO and recruitment are locked down long-term. Previously we've seen at the Knights through the Smith/Stone/Bennett/Stone/Brown merry-go-round all have completely different theories on recruitment. And then we've seen the same with our heads of recruitment throughout the AOB era. Between these two factors, the club has been in disarray for soooo long - short term thinking has been the norm and it's lead us on a road to nowhere.

If that club leadership and recruitment is a constant, then I'm relaxed about having a coach come in for two years and seeing if they can get the best out of the side. There (fingers crossed) won't be a need for yet another total rebuild if the coach is moved on.

How much worse than the spoon or even vying for the spoon do we have to get before this club acts on our diabolical coach(es)?
What a laughing stock the Knights have become!

'AOB wins the spoon in his 7th season' who on Earth would keep the bloke on?

Literally the most ridiculous thing that I'll have witnessed from club Administration
