Yeah, where does it end? Seems like a small change to suit them now. But the more money they poor in to the game, the more power they have to demand changes.

A team should be able to name whatever side they want to, right up to an hour before kickoff.

100% 9 and fox are no different in any way, they provide the funds for the clubs to pay the players... no funds no game of this level.

Go back to the late 80s and that is where it started with the winfield cup... then the next level of moving forward was super league which is still the model they use today.

Us the fans dont matter and never will unless the fans produce 1billion in revenue a yr which wont happen.

I guess some players get burned out from too much rugby league and need their time away. You would think they would definitely do their homework on the players they will be up against in the next round though.

Article where Pete Mataútia says he watches too much NRL and knows the strengths of all the centres he plays against.
You'd think all players should do their homework like that, but you often see interviews where players say they don't watch games at all, and presumably just rely on coaching briefings to know who they are up against.
Honestly how dumb do you have to be to not even take a professional interest

Each player gets a 10 minute video of the player they will be marking up against in there next game!

That video is usually put together by the coaching staff during the week prior to the next rd with the player given that usb to watch during down time to read said players strong and weak points.... been happening for yrs.

If every player watched 3-4 games a week they would be sick of footy in 3yrs.

Exactly 88 if we want the big $ which we are gettig from tv and gambling companies ofcourse we have to accomodate. Or we can get no $s and head back to the abc.

Love that tool Bennett carrying on about the poor players in golden point being hard done by..... Yeah I'll play 80 mins a week and train 4 days a week for 4 hours with 2 months off each year the poor diddums.

It's sad that this is so true.

Thats what they want you to believe. They came to us to broadcast our sport because it was great, because doing so on thier network gets people to watch, in turn selling more advertising. It is the game that is great.

Little by little the networks but chipped away slowly moving themselves in to a place of power where they have us believing that they can take away their money if the game doesn't "accommodate". They can't, as they would be turning away millions of viewers that watch their broadcasts of our sport.

It is the NRL in the position of power, not the other way around!

I was in Phoenix, Arizona, when several Suns NBA players were arrested by the FBI, including one who was playing at the time with the Newcastle Falcons. The problem? What they call 'shaving'. Say the Suns were playing the Lakers and bookies had the Suns to win by 14 1/2. Players would lay off, get home by say 8, and all the 'smart' money was on the Lakers with the 14 1/2 start. For smart, read Las Vegas Mafia.

We see the trouble Simona is in, and you have to ask how far away are we from that? And look at the shady hangers on called 'professional punters' hanging around the players, á lá Foran?

Punting on a footy game without knowing the lineup is like putting your money on C Waller to win the Cox Plate the week before they race hoping he sends Winx and not a member of the Canterbury mid week team.

Article on Lamb. A graph in there compares playmaking stats with Hodko, and shows Lamb is leading on all but one stat.
Lamb did that in one game too

Will be very interesting to see where his numbers are in 3 months time. I won't be surprised if he right up there with the best. But paradoxically, neither will I be surprised if he doesn't

He did some amazing things last match. The stand out for me are the banana grabbers that curve towards the winger. He did two last week. Both were almost perfectly executed. The first one he did I watched in slow motion as he dropped it onto his foot without looking, and for that reason I wasn't sure if it was deliberate. Then when he did it a second time it occured to me how fkn good he is at doing that

A lot of what Lamb does doesn't look deliberate. The impression you get is a lot of tries seem lucky, but after a while you realise that he gets lucky a lot.

Can't have too much sympathy for him when he says statements like he put his heart on his sleeve when he ran on the field & would never let his teammates down. He literally bet on his opposite player to score against him. And then he says that's not him, I'm pretty sure it's you if you've been doing it since you were a kid. Obviously got problems though, hope he gets the help he needs.
