ROUND 3: Knights v Titans @ CBUS Super Stadium

Sorry if it's been talked about in the thread already but am I the only one who thought Gagai's try was in fact a try ? Off what I was watching the ball went marginally backwards of Korbin's hand, bounced and rolled forward.

I think after Korbin touched the ball, it was still travelling backwards in the air, but not as backwards as it originally was. If that make sense.
So in reality he did knock on because he changed the path of the ball towards the opponents goal line, even if it was still travelling backwards.

You have to feel for the Titans.

Imagine the (justifiable) griping here if a try like Gagai's from a straight out knock sank us? The video ref must be the only person in the Southern Hemisphere who could not determine a knock on. You could see the ball change direction towards to Titans line off Sims who should not have played at it. Sometimes I wonder if you get bad decisions one week, you get the good ones next week?

However 3/3 is better than 0/3 like poor cowboyman. Looking for a 50% imporvement at home to even compete with the Pennies. Predictions are Soward will still be out.

It's not a prediction he's had spinal surgery so unless Gus is indeed God Soward won't be there.

That makes sense but from my lounge room the ball seemed to at least go "flat" from Korbin's hand.

Imagine the griping on here if the Titans scored from the goal line drop out awarded after the ball was touched first by the Titan and then Uate. What goes around comes around as they say in the classics.

I reckon we'll improve a heap next week. Maybe not enough to win but we're a completely different side at home playing in the afternoon than we are a wet night game in Qld.

We're also a team that tends to play to the opposition meaning we lift playing the good sides but play down to the poorer sides level.

This!!!!!! So totally correct and I wish we would stop it and get the hammerings out

Was at game, uate deserves heaps of credit for doing a lot of the hard hitups no one else wanted to, houston is dead set a wast of space, Rochow continues to impress and be one of our best, another snowden in the side and mullen to hit form would be nice

You're a brave man. It looked pretty wet up there. :)

I have no doubt it was a try. After numerous replays it was shown that the ball hit korbin, but it also clearly showed it went backwards so where's the debate? Also, Andrew voss was saying that because it was replayed so many times that they should say no try, wtf? It was shown so many times to confirm they were making the right decision. Anyway that's my rant, wether it happens to Knights, raiders or png its always a try.

Why is everyone so negative? Do you guys support our team or come here just to bag it? Whether we win by 20 or 2 a win is a win... Whether we play pathetic or outstanding I couldn't care less... The fact we aren't playing good but still stand undefeated is a huge wrap on the heart the boys are showing for stone and all you 'fans' who are criticising the team, I think we have a huge opportunity next Saturday to make a statement and to shut up everyone whose thinking we aren't for real, physicality on jt takes away from a 14 point come from behind win last week, this week we play scrappy in the wet and get a contentious try go our way for once. No one ever gives us credit! And I think it's poor form when our own fans are the same

My only concern is that if our attack doesn't improve dramatically then these three wins will be in vain. In fact, our season has less hope than the one previous

Although I'm stoked about our efforts so far I'm worried it'll be the only part of this season we will enjoy

I think the dreadful conditions had a big impact on the quality of this game. We usually lose these types of games 99% of the time...so they done good.

I hope our attack will improve this weekend at home in front of a huge vocal crowd, on a dry track, and look out opposition when they do. They seem to have their defense in order so it's only up from here.

I am interested to watch the Penrith game tonight to see how they structure themselves without Soward. Hope the boys watch it too.

Who would have thought though, under Stone it's our defence that's working & our attack is failing. I never did expect us to play like the end of last year just because there was no pressure on us then & we were throwing the ball around for fun, in the NRL these days you need some structure so I expected a more smarter, safer version of the way we played then, but at the moment it's a bit like early last year, we look lost in the opp 20. Mullo needs to hit some form & start using some of that kicking game & long passing game he has.

And the thing with Mullo is all the talk about what a brilliant pre season ha had and how they had all these plays to bring out...ain't see diddly squat yet. But I shall be patient!

I love the ladder on the Knights official site. They seem to have "forgotten" to update the Rabbitohs results and we are first on the ladder:lol: .

Ya gotta laugh.

Unbeaten Newcastle Knights ’showing plenty of character, desire’ in start for the ages

NOT since Andrew Johns was steering Newcastle around the park have the Knights begun an NRL campaign this well.

The dramatic 20-18 victory over Gold Coast at a rain-lashed Robina gave the Knights their third win from as many starts this season, something the club hasn’t achieved since the 2006 season.

It’s also the club’s fifth win in a row, as they won the final two fixtures of the 2014 campaign.

That’s something the Knights haven’t achieved since 2005.Captain Kurt Gidley believes the run of wins shows something is building at Newcastle.

“We’ve still got areas we can work on but the character and desire, we need to keep those, and the skill we need to work on,” Gidley said.

“We’ve got most of the same guys here (from last year).

We’ve got a couple of new fellas ... but we’ve got the same group of guys who were playing at the back end of last year, when we were playing well.

“Last year was a tough year but when all the distractions and things were aside and finished with we were playing our best footy.

“We’re not playing our best footy at the moment but we’re never giving up on anything and that’s pretty important.”

History suggests winning the club’s first three matches of the season is the foundation of a solid season.

Since the NRL’s inception in 1998, 32 teams have been 3-0 after round three with four going on to win the premiership, three finishing runners-up and 18 more making finals.

Only six teams since 1998 have started a season 3-0 and not finished in the top eight.

After battling their way to that record with back-to-back wins on the road in Queensland against the Titans and North Queensland, Gidley said confidence is high going into next weekend’s home clash with Penrith at Hunter Stadium.

“We knew the opportunity we had this week to go three from three and to go home next week into an important game, second home game of the year, our fans would just love it,” Gidley said.

Don's try was off a forward pass so Titans fans have nothing to complain about

Players' Player: Round 3

Mon 23rd March, 02:20PM

Kade Snowden has started 2015 in fine form and was duly rewarded in Sunday's 20-18 victory over the Titans with the Players' Player award.

The Belmont-bred prop has risen to a new level this season after putting a string of niggling injuries behind him that hampered many of his performances last year.

While the Knights struggled at times with a greasy playing surface and resolute opponents on Sunday night, Snowden led his pack forwards with a flawless performance in both attack and defence.

If Snowden continues his strong form representative duties won't be far off for the big man in 2015.

STATS

- 192 metres
- 37 tackles
- 20 runs

lucky the titans don't yet know how to close out a game...thanks Mortimer, the knights owe you a beer! actually better make that two.
I dunno what the video refs are looking at in their booth, cartoons perhaps? because that was a knock-on from Korbin for sure :D still it's nice not to get the rough end of the pineapple...
