Well I am first out on the limb predicting a win. listo? Treadly? Joining me?

Tricky's Radiers were terrible last night and neither team defended well.

It's probably our best chance of a win in our final four games, so I think we will give it 100% and pull off an upset victory.

Beau Scott being out will help us.

James my boy you are becoming as cynical as I. First old Beau Scott, then tubby Uate and slow Gids on the outer.

Well Tasgirl be thankful I did not promise a streak down Hunter Street like some have in their youth!!!!!!

This and the Panthers are our best chance of a win. The Tigers are hot and cold, but I don't trust them to not play well against us. Brooks and Tedesco will no doubt have a field day down the edges, as will Tapou (spelling?) and Woods up the middle.

Hmm, that's a point. Their players are much better than ours.

Wait, stop it, don't kill my positivity!!!

Sorry .

However I find with this bunch it's easier to expect nothing...then its a surprise when they do something.

I really don't understand the Tigers form either. Like us, they have some fantastic individual players on paper, but just can't seem to find any consistency. I like the Tigers though.

I'm going down to this one, I'm a knight who lives in tiger town. We can take down the pussycats if we learn to play as a damn team!!

Wests Tigers v Knights preview

Wed 12 Aug, 2015, 12:00pm

By Jack Brady, National Correspondent, NRL.com

Winning two straight games for the first time since the opening two rounds, the Wests Tigers continue to build as they set the foundations for next year and beyond.

While their win over the Raiders in Round 21 was entertainingly scrappy, this weekend they reach an intriguing stage of their season where the wooden spoon is still very much a possibility.

They come up against a Knights team which is similarly looking towards the future. In their two games under interim coach Danny Buderus, Newcastle has put forward a good 40 minutes in both performances – it's now time to combine the two.

While this game has wooden spoon connotations, each team has shown enough in recent weeks to suggest that this one will be a belter, or at least a high scoring affair.

In terms of team changes, Brenden Santi returns on a five man bench for the Tigers also including Manaia Cherrington.

Beau Scott (foot) and Tyler Randell (eye) have been named despite their injuries suffered last weekend for Newcastle.

Randell takes Danny Levi's bench spot, with captain Kurt Gidley moving to five-eighth and Jake Mamo to fullback.

Kade Snowden returns at prop which sees Sam Mataora join a five-man bench also including Chris Houston.

Watch out Wests Tigers:

Knights captain Gidley is working his absolute hardest to leave the club on the best note possible.

One of their best since Buderus became coach, Gidley has led from the front and his passion has showed on every single occasion he touches the ball.

His move to five-eighth will mean he gets his hands on the ball on more occasions.

Watch out Knights:

It goes without saying James Tedesco has been a class above his teammates in 2015.

Scoring his 15th try of the season against the Raiders on Monday, Tedesco requires one more four-pointer to become the most prolific try-scoring fullback in a Tigers season.

Beyond his scoring prowess, the 22-year-old is averaging 155 metres per game and is streets ahead in terms of tackle breaks (144 this year – 7.2 per game).

Key Match-Up: Luke Brooks v Tyrone Roberts

Receiving the ball on similar terms (Roberts 47.6 touches, Brooks 42.6 touches per game) the two halfbacks hold the key for their respective teams.

When it comes to productivity however, Brooks stands tall.

Producing 15 try assists to Roberts's mere two, the points are sure to come from the Tigers halfback.

It's essentially Roberts' time to lift for the sake of his team.

The History: Played 20; Wests Tigers 10, Knights 10

For the first time since 2011 the Tigers will play the Knights away from Newcastle.

Losing three of their past four games against them (all played at Hunter Stadium) the Tigers will be looking to find an edge in overall history.

However when they last played in Round 10 it was Newcastle who prevailed 22-12.

What are the Odds:

The Tigers’ return to form has seen their price shorten throughout the week, Round 23's biggest, according to Sportsbet.

They have also been crunched to win by 13-plus at home on Saturday.

The Way We See It:

In the name of making the wooden spoon battle as intriguing as the race for the finals, we'll predict an upset and say Newcastle sneak away with this one.

With the Panthers, Tigers and Titans all tied on 18 points, a Newcastle victory will ensure a four way tie for last spot leading into the final three games of the year.

The Knights have already beaten the Tigers this year so who are we to say it won't happen again?

Newcastle by four points.

Buderus prepares for Tigers

Wed 12th August, 05:37PM

As the Newcastle Knights approach their Round 23 match against the Wests Tigers on Saturday, interim coach Danny Buderus discussed his team selection.

Buderus has opted for captain Kurt Gidley to shift into five-eighth with a number of forced changes made to last week’s team.

“It’s what’s best for the team,” Buderus said on Monday.

“At the moment Kurt’s put his hand up and just said, 'that’s the job I’ve got to do' and he will support that right edge."

Returning to the fullback position is Jake Mamo after he played with the NSW Cup last week, a strategy Buderus believes helps
developing players ease into fulltime first grade duties.

“A lot goes into playing fullback, with Jake Mamo in a learning development stage,” he said.

“Getting the numbers right, communication and all those things you have to worry about.

“It’s about getting a bit of a taste and going back and learning.

“Hopefully he finishes the year off in superb form.”

Gidley’s experience at fullback is sought after, but he believes his position as five-eighth will help strengthen the team’s defence out wide.

“He (Gidley) is our best at fullback, but I also need him on that edge just to strengthen those numbers up on that right edge,” he said.

“They are coming that way with (James) Tedesco, he’s lightning there and we need to be pretty firm.”

Meanwhile, there are a number of players who were injured in Sunday’s match against the Sydney Roosters who will need to prove fitness if they are to take the field on Saturday.

“We are still waiting on some medical reports on Beau (Scott) and Chris Houston should be okay, but I’ll check on those guys later in the week,” he said.

“Tyler (Randell) is training. We’ll check on that eye later in the week, but he’s getting up to speed.

"There’s no update on Jimmy (James McManus) as yet, he’s just going through a process of getting all the right treatment and medical advice.

“At the moment that’s where he’s at and that’s just taking time.”

There’s much hanging on Saturday’s game according to the caretaker coach who is eager for the team to lift its place on the competition ladder.

“It’s an opportunity to come up against a team and have a really good crack at,” he said.

“There’s a minimal number of games left and this is an important one for sure."

Turning focus to the Round 23 opposition, a major strength is the Tigers' well-developed spine.

“I go back to the 9, 6,7 and 1 in any team and if they continually play week after week, the team is going to get better,” he said.

“All year we have not had the same 9, 6, 7, 1 and it’s really difficult.

“Not only have the Tigers got the same, they have got very good players in those positions as well.

“That’s the danger for us.”

Tedesco at fullback has been pinpointed as one to pay particular attention to.

“He’s a huge threat the way he runs off Robbie Farah and inside balls from Brooks," he added.

“They do everything at speed around that ruck so we need to be in control to negate that.”

The Knights travel south on Friday and will train in Sydney before taking on the Tigers on Saturday at Campbelltown Stadium.

What's the best way to drive down there without going on the M7?

Are you travelling from Newcastle? The M2 then M7 is by far the easiest way to get there. Otherwise it's a Cabbie's nightmare of Rat Running your way there. The Tolls aren't that much really taking into account the ease of the drive. Why do you want to avoid the M7? :)

Nah I'm in Western Sydney. Don't realy want to foot the bill for the tolls as I am not fussed with time as I'll probably leave at a reasonable time that's all.
