Round 22 NRL Discussion

match of the year

What a big game in the capital next sunday!!!
I really think if we're going to win we have to it in the forwards & our pack is alot better than the raiders pack.
The big question will be if we can stop the raiders big out-side back & halfs (Terry Campese the main one, after the last 4 weeks he is the best player in the comp over that period for sure)?
Whoever wins that match they should finish in 6th place and miss out on playing the Storm or Sea Eagles in the first week of the playoffs!!

Ben Cross, Jess Royal & Wes Naiqama (danny wicks is likely to play next week as well, to give the ankle an extra week) are due back as well, what is a real bonus. But who do you drop?
Matt White (no way), Dan Tolar (maybe), Cameron Ciraldo (maybe) or Mark Taufua (no way) !!!!!
Good luck smithy have fun picking the team, no-way in the world I could drop any player out of the team over the past 4 weeks efforts. :brickwall:

I'm surprised at the complete lack of knowledge, you would think someone would know their own clubs points record.

I doubt he would have been thinking, now I have 36 points, oh wait I need 2 more for the record.

As if he would have cared! And when interviewed, he didn't.

No one goes out to think they will score the record, they don't need to know it either. No biggy.

Campese is a team player, not an individual.

I bet no team would know records in side out.

they wouldn't have been thinking about the club point scoring record during the game

campese probably forgot how many points he had scored anyway

Haha, damn. Why didn't Campese kick the last one? Did the coach let him go in for an early shower?
Yeah he hurt his foot or something a few tackles before the try. But if he knew about the record he still would've kicked - only found out about it during the post match interview.

well why not, you get your name up in the records, whats so bad about that?

well thats part of the problem with league now, isnt it, people dont seem to care as much.

Why not? You play for your club, whats wrong with knowing the records at it and wanting to beat them one day, if you get the chance?

Campese is a team player, not an individual.

LOL! Well hes hardly just scoring the points for himself is he?
If my team was well ahead and I was on the way to scoring my first try for the year, but suddenly the guy who had scored 6 trys that match and only needed one more for the club record, I would happily pass it to him.
Thats team work too, can you see?

I bet no team would know records in side out.

uh duhh, yeah its a real hard one to remember isnt it?

I thought he seemed pretty gutted when he found out! He said he'd have taken the kick if he knew. A chance to equal Meninga's record of 38 will probably never come around again, and given he is second to Dave Brown on 45, I'd be really annoyed if I was Campese haha. It was a chance to go down in the record books forever.

Defense is the key. The ladder shows that there are 3 groups of teams: those with points against around 500 and 600, those with defense around 300s and 400s (us), and the teams up the top with 200.

Our F&A is looking supurb, we have really improved our defence, and in the last couple of weeks our attack has fired, our aim by the end of the season should be to have the F&A around 80-90, and of course win 2-3 games.

We are easily conceding under 20 per game ... and the for and against is atm the healthiest since 2002.

2008 rocks!!!

we have also scored over 30 in our last three games, I cant remember when that last happened, if it even did.
