Round 2 NRL Discussion

Gee i reckon he should of been sent off Anasta isn't tall so hunt still launched him self and tried to pull it off but he probably will cop it for a few weeks now.

Even though I think Hunt was getting ready for a shoulder, I don't think he was anticipating Anasta's fall and couldn't really pull out of it.

Even if he was falling, you cant just go around putting your shoulder into peoples head...

Still think he shouldnt be charged?

Hunt on report for Anasta shoulder charge
By Josh Massoud | March 22, 2008 12:00am

THE NRL has been plunged into a shoulder charge controversy for the second week running after Roosters star Braith Anasta had his nose broken by a brutal hit from Brisbane's Karmichael Hunt at the SFS last night.

Hunt was placed on report for his 18th-minute shoulder on Anasta, which struck the pivot flush in the face and overshadowed Brisbane's torrid 20-14 win before 18,724 fans.

Anasta appeared to slip just before Hunt made contact, but the tackle will nevertheless be looked at by the NRL match review committee.

Given the past week's focus on shoulder charges - after Craig Wing's injury - the outcome of their inquiry is sure to be hotly anticipated and debated.

A groggy Anasta was rushed from the field with blood pouring from his nose and temporary concussion.

He managed to return in the second half with the aid of a face bandage but was regularly treated by trainers for bleeding.

The Roosters playmaker later said he had "no problems" with the hit, which Hunt apologised for on the field.

But Broncos coach Wayne Bennett remains wary that his Test fullback will have to face the judiciary this week.

Roosters coach Brad Fittler, meanwhile, was more worried that the NRL's stance on shoulder charges and video replays will turn the sport "into rugby union" after the match lasted nearly two hours.

Referee Jared Maxwell tested the patience of both teams by regularly referring to video replays for drop balls and strips.

"I think the contests are getting like rugby union," Fittler lamented.

"There's lots of stops and the games are taking too long.

"It's getting ridiculous. We've broken down the game too much. "If we keep going, in five years time it will be just rugby union and union has been pretty disappointing lately."

Im just glad Hunt didnt get sent off, hes in my fantasy team :D. It was pretty nasty though, it be interesting to see what the judic does.

If Hunt managed to pull out he would of had to have quicker reactions then Mark Waugh at second slip. Even Freddie in the press conference said that he didnt think to much of it. Hunt didnt really go for the shoulder IMO - he was just bracing him self for heavy contact, Anasta was moving pretty quick and then slipped. He shouldnt get charged but he probably will..

Just on the KHunt hit. Wasnt he in trouble last year for a tackle or something that went wrong? They said he had a clean record but I can remember him being at the Judiciary for something.

Yes, I don't remember exactly, but wasn't it pretty much the same thing?

Raiders left with a two man bench, Scott Logan off the field with a broken jaw and William Zillman off with an ACL tear of some description.

Doesn't sound too good for the Raiders. Both seem like they could be sidelined for a while.

Frizzed you watched toyota cup aswell right? Is that Pricket guy playing both games?
