You're not allowed to say Sione leads the comp for missed tackles mate! Levi also in top 10. Get ready for someone to tell you it's a good thing

The new King of Newcastle David Klemmer has not missed a tackle in his first two games.

Not the point that I'm making, it might be that teams are targeting him defense.

Don't think so, is going looking for work getting numbers in the tackle. 2nd/3rd in a lot rather than blokes running at him.

Id say its a combination of both, coaches know Sione has a weaker defensive record so they run the play at him more often though Sione has a tendency to try shut down plays, which makes him tackle in on the player before his man. Thats not a bad thing, as its helpimg the half out though it does lead to missed tackles also.

Are these missed tackles costing us or is it from Sione trying just a little too hard? That aside, he’s looked much better and more comfortable in the pack.

It's hard to say its cost us, the missed tackles havent let in a try as yet, but it would have put more pressure on the guys around him to cover him and also put us on the back foot in moments.

I personally think Guerra is way to good to be on the bench, Sione has the X factor for a 20 minute stint in the ruck against tired D with quick leg speed and stocky build.
That would be how i used him atm.

I will say Barnett has copped plenty from me but on the weekend he was outstanding.

Brown is just using the three bench forwards to rotate through the middle. Sione not making an impact with the ball on an edge, don't think he would be much better closer in?

In any case I don't see Brown changing anything up until there are more choices with Dan and Jacob back.

Or we can just admit that Sione sucks and give someone else a go, yes his the world's nicest bloke but maybe a season in NSW cup getting his defence right and a 100% increase in his running game might be in order.

Probably a bit early to dump him, but those stat's are pretty damning.

My god . You hate Sione that much that you missed the point entirely . He is saying the opposition is making him do more work by targeting him in defence

Back in the real world, that Waqa Blake guy looked really strong for Penrith, and every time he went for a run I was thinking he'll cause some trouble, but he kept running into a brick wall named Sione.

    Worst defender in the NRL.

    Poor offensive stats.

    Fact.

Weird how nobody was questioning his defence in the back row until someone brought this stat up?

RCG full speed 2m short of try line 1 on 1 stop and rolled on his back by Sione. Re missed tackles and not just Sione. I watched the replay with remote, pen and paper in hand. If a defender misses an attacking player first up but then comes again and makes the tackle, is that counted as both a miss and a tackle ? I think it must be.

Sione has made 79 tackles at 83% tackle efficiency.
The other guys on that side, Pearce, Ramien and SKD have made 80 tackles between the 3 of them. Pearce at 82% tackle efficiency, Ramien at 81% - SKD has 100% tackle efficiency, but he's only made 7 and i'm sure he got plenty of help.
Obviously the problem is that Sione is stinking up the stats of those other guys by making all the easy tackles and leaving them the hard ones. Maybe we should throw Watson in at second row to clean all that up.

Sione's going ok. There's been zero attack down his side for him to get involved in. There was a good try last yr when him and KP combined.

Ponga's side is seeing more quality. A matter of whether Lee can consistently finish them. Other side mainly see kicks for SKD.
