I didn’t put them in my player of the round points but would like to single out Bradman & Brodie’s work in defence. Teams still see it coming when we go to Braddy but he had an impact anyway, and some effort from Brodie to do his whole stint in the middle then move to an edge and play the game out after Fitz had to go off. Maintained his line speed all game. Kind of reminds me of Liam Martin a bit, not an out and out star but does all the little things right.

Still think what’s needed more than another prop, is a top tier play 2 outside back. Whether it’s a big Corey Oates style battering ram or someone more elusive.

Same backline next week though. Would love to see Simi get on a wing. Musgrove goes alright but a bit of X factor in the backline would help
 
Brodie Jones had another interesting game - played a bit in the middle, a bit on the left edge, a bit on the right edge. Chased a lot of kicks - made some really strong tackles.
They just throw him on anywhere now, and he does a job for them.

If Mann played today we lost. No two ways about it.

This is what I thought Crossland done so well:

Gave his chase time to actually contest the kick/tackle the winger catching the ball immediately.

I think he had at least 2 forced drop outs.

That’s the most shape we’ve had in our back line (Hoy destroyed that when he swept)

Most importantly. He put his hand up and wasn’t getting caught on the 4th tackle and didn’t **** his pants.

Massively underrated what he did today. Wasn’t flashy, wouldn’t write home about it. But wasn’t easy given the circumstances of the game and the pressure the team is under
 
Crossland is playing better than Pearce was, and for far less money. That being said, we have zero attack so things don't look good for us.

Thought the game was alright, we were obviously very lucky, finally got on the good side of the 50/50 calls. Our defence was pretty good, very good compared to previous weeks. Our forwards were great today, we easily dominated their pack. Errors in the first half were a let down but we grinded out the second half perfectly. Good game at home finally, glad for the fans that show up at our home games every week with the way they have been performing at home.

Please do this again next week and more.
 
There was extra pressure on Crossland because Watson doesn't kick.
I think Hoy did a few and Brailey did 1, but apart from that, it was all Crossland and he had to be in position to take the kicks every time.
Pearce would have been fine with that, but I wonder if many halves would be.
A lot of work in being in the right position to kick every set.

If Crossland was thowing the ball to Ponga would be a different story
 
Not sure if it’s been mentioned much, but Hoy’s goalkicking was vital for us. If DSaf didn’t score the last try, it was looking like coming down to 12-10, with the difference being Hoy’s kicks at goal. He made some errors but I thought he made a difference for us tonight whereas Turbo was otherwise relatively quiet.

I'm not sure if he was, so many of our kicks our entire side was offside, we got away with them all somehow.
