I'd like to see Mann do 80 minutes at 5/8 and get a bit involved with the playmaking.
Frankly, if Pearce is out for any reason this year we are stuffed.
Our Best bet would be Lino at 7, Mann at 6 and Ponga getting more involved, and we might have a chance to pinch a win.

Leaving the same player at 5/8 for 80 minutes is a very good thing.

If Pearce and especially ponga aren't going to play to the right much we need the 5/8 to be more than just a running player.

I'd have to agree mate. Watson is a great runner and so is Mann but I really don't see the benefit of having a half that cannot assume some kicking duties. Lino can kick well.
 
Watson is obviously playing half busted, I still lmfao at people bagging Watson, you are kidding yourself if his not scoring try's or setting them up, his making a massive line break. Certainly better than nuffies like Lino or Mann.

Watson has 1 try assist, 0 try's for the year and 0 line breaks.
His strength seems to be tackle breaks with 21 for the year.
These stats are off the NRL app.

In saying that I don't mind Watson at 5/8 because Ponga does alot of ball playing and kicking.
Watson plays more like a roaming centre than a 5/8 but it seems to be working for the balance of the team.

nib Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown has confirmed his side to face the Dragons in Mudgee.

In a late change to the halves, Kurt Mann moves into Five-Eighth, and Connor Watson moves to the bench. Mason Lino and Josh King drop out of the side.

Dunno, but not playing in a knights team that was getting its backside kicked every game when he was playing with us would have certainly done wonders for him. He was one of the sacrificial lambs of the rebuild.

I'd rather Cogger back to be honest.
 
Brown signed lino and paid Watson 500k a season for a guaranteed shot at 5/8th.

If we don't have a 5/8 I know who to blame.
