Round 1 team.

I'm really nervous about this game, last year we only looked threatening when Pearce had the pressure taken off him by having options in Green and Brailey and McCullough. I hope Brailey can go the full 80mins, we desperately need him to, and maybe we use Crossland as a reserve to cover Brailey or the 5/8 roll. Maybe Randall to cover Brailey would also be an option. I thought Crossland played really well in the Trial as did Randall and to me Crossland looks like a proper half and much more comfortable in the roll than Mann.

Expecting us to lose as we really don't play well against the dogs and the fact pearce is rubbish and has no support due to our missing players.

I'd say teams just read it better, seen them tried plenty with Pearce and even Ponga still but now teams know to seal the gap - shame we couldn't have played it to our advantage with a sneaky kick or cut out pass to our wingers.
We do.
Most of out tries in 2020 were scored by players outside Fitz, taking advantage of the defenders concentrating on Pong and Fitz.

I was watching highlights of a titansV warriors game on nrl.com the other day from 2010 and the attack just seemed to flow from both teams. You just don't see that adlib stuff much anymore.

Here's how this game usually plays out:

We'll start well, and will look to be well on top. Probably bomb one, possibly two tries before conceding a soft one seemingly against the run of play.

We'll then quickly concede another one, settle back into the game for maybe 10 minutes before conceding a third and leaving ourselves a small mountain to climb.

We may score first in the second half, largely to give us degenerates false hope. We'll then push the envelope (unnecessarily) inside our own half, throw a blind, 3 man cut-out pass and concede a 60m intercept try under the sticks.

Or something like that.

I think a team of Best, Toa, Barnett, Friz, Tuala and Watson have some points in them. Think the boys will fire up for our first game, at home, with a bumper crowd. At least, I hope they will as I’ll be there...

Article about Barnett playing second row.
To be honest, I never thought he'd really made the transition to middle forward. He still seemed to play on the edge a lot. So moving back to second row isn't that big a deal - or not as big a deal as it comes across in this article.

What it does mean is that Fitz will be on the bench when he comes back.
Fitz hasn't played prop in first grade, but he was mostly a prop in the juniors, and he is perfectly capable of doing 40 or 50 minutes as either a prop or lock.

Honestly, I think articles are hard to come by around the knights at the moment. I don't think there are any issues with the herald, I just think that is how things are done these days, which might lead to talking up issues that aren't really there.

The thing it makes me wonder about is the balance of the bench today. When all are injury free, I think Mann and Watson interchange at 13 and 14. I don't think Watson plays 80 minutes straight off in the middle so someone has to cover for him, is it a big middle or Crossland to 5/8 for a bit? Is that where Sasagi gets a spot? Is Crossland going to be picked straight up at 5/8 with Mann at 14? Do you need cover for your edges, which will be Jones atm and Fitz when he's back? Or does Sue cover the edges as well? All that would leave two bench props, one being JSaf. The make up of the bench is what will be so interesting for mine this arvo, it will point to our tactics overall more than any other selection.

Probably - he did play off the bench.
He has improved his fitness and workrate a lot since then.
In his early games he averaged about 15 tackles a game and I remember watching his stats for the first time he broke 20 tackles in a game - which took ages. He can now be relied on for 30 or even 40 on a good day.
He would be much more capable of doing the workload of a middle forward now.

Not sure where to put this, any Newcastle locals give me opinion on what it’s like doing day trip to central stadium? Thinking of coming down from
QLD for warriors game and doing day trip from
Newy, cheers
