Round 1 2016 Team

The thing with Pauli was yes he ran hard but he never dragged defenders. He went down as soon as he felt contact which in my opinion is a bit worrying with a guy of his size.

My god, thank you! I thought the same! People are getting a little too over excited here with Pauli Pauli, especially with running at less defenders... Hopefully he was just being lazy...

I'm feeling more confident now about having a decent season. Our forward pack looks the goods and we'll have some real impact off the bench something we sorely lacked in 2015 (particularly after Stockwell's injury).
We finally have strong halves pairing and Levi just gets better every time I see him, I no longer have doubts about him being too green to start each week in the NRL, he'll be a real X factor for us.
Fullback remains a concern but hopefully whoever is chosen can step up. We're skinny on outside backs but if the forwards are laying a platform and Mullen and Hodkinson are getting quality ball at the right end of the park then it's not too much of a concern.
If injuries are kind to our key players and Brown can get them fully motivated (which he has a proven track record of doing) I don't think that we'll be anywhere near the spoon.

Watch it mozza watch it.

You will be getting as positive as myself with a predicted 10th place finish! Was a shame we never retained Holland.

I'm hoping to sneak into the 8 obviously but if we were to compete every week, play a good brand of footy and finish 10th due to a bit of bad luck or inexperience like in 2008, I'd be pretty pleased tbh.
If the effort is there for 80 minutes each week and the defence improves we'll improve big time and let's face it after last year the bar is so bloody low we can pretty much walk over it.

A General in the number 7 jumper should make a big difference. Then in comes down to attitude, pride and a bit of heart.

At 130kg he'd be a fat slob with an extremely poor work rate. Size is definitely important in the NRL but conditioning even more so.

I like him at his current weight.
How would he be a fat slob if he puts on 10 kg of muscle that's a stupid thing to say ...

That's just the way they play 9s isn't it .

He would be too big mate. At 130kg he wouldn't have the mobility to defend properly and his cardio wouldn't be good enough for NRL. Toka Likiliki was a monster who we thought had huge potential but the reasons above is why he's only a park footballer nowadays.

Too big 130 kg of muscle your kidding right and from what I read LikiLiki had a chronic ankle problem that's why he is a park footballer .Tell Matt Parsons 130kg is to big or Pritchard or Kasiano Sorry mate don't agree at all ... As Brown said he adds some size to our pack something we have been missing ....

Kasiano and Masoe are the only current NRL players that are 130kg and both have terrible lateral movement in defence and get exposed all the time. Kasiano is a good player overall though but it's a rarity at that size.

Pauli Pauli is huge now and doesn't have the best cardo and mobility as is. I think he's at the perfect weight now

Was just thinking. I know it's fairly slim pickings but if gagai went to fullback to push mamo to the wing. Could ross slot into that centre spot? He carved up at centre in nsw cup but is he just that? A nsw cup player? Gagai and ross have both got fullback of the year awards at cup level yeah?

Nah to Ross to centre. Why not Feeney to centres? Grew up
defending in the halves.

Ross wasn't much good at centre in nsw cup.
his best position is easily fullback, with wing the only other position he goes ok at.

Yeah I'm happy for feeney to play centre. I was just going for someone who had played there before as I havnt seen feeney play centre before. He definitely has the size and pace and hopefully not a ball hog. I guess browny will find out eventually where he wants them

Not sure but I would of thought if you could get 1 or 2 big forwards drag a few defenders and bring them in then it would be very easy to get around a condensed defensive line.

Pauli was running hard but it was only taking 1 or 2 people to tackle him unlike 3 or 4 at times for other big forwards.

Will wait and see till the season proper for me but there is now a lot of hype and expectation put on him from people on this site similar to that of the eels fans when they watched him progress through the juniors.

Particulalry cowboyman with the reduced interchange. Small quick guys will be rejoicing darting past slow old forwards, the little so and sos!

If Gagai goes to fullback I would like to see Tapine there. If he stays with the club that is. We don't have any other first grade choices to pick from.
