Recruitment And Retention Discussion

Brails signing on a two-year deal announced by the Raiders:

Be interesting to see what happens to once a Knights Levi and Starling given Brails has been brought in to mentor Owen Pattie.

My guess is Danny moves on.
Read the other day there is external interest in Starling

I’m actually feeling sorry for Dom now, but his situation is totally self inflicted.

I'd know that I do necessarily, but you're right, it seems fairly self-inflicted, he was apparently all but signed at Souths before the Roosters nabbed him...we were like 3rd in the running (if that) and we we the club that made him an NRL quality player.

The big problem for Young besides his defence this season is that he's running across field again for some reason. Take out that barnstorming run from the start of every set and Sam Walker dropping dimes into his lap to score off, and he's just a big guy on the wing.

PS. If it is the Roosters trying to shift Young, it's an amazingly cutthroat club. I still don't understand why they gave the Tigers, Tyrell May, who could play Origin this season.

He's getting paid $600K+/year to play footy in Eastern Sydney. I don't think he needs much sympathy 😆
A case of being taken in by the big lights and bull manure from the egomaniacs in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
I think his manager and his father thought he could do better than Newcastle.
Young Dom had fallen a long way since he left Newcastle. He has never been the same since!

Unfortunately money by itself doesn’t bring happiness.

His performances have slipped badly and he would be under pressure to perform. He would have been told that if he doesn’t perform, he will be asked to leave.
No doubt, but for a young bloke with no kids and six figure salary, I'd say he'd be pretty happy right now.

Doesn't really matter if he's asked to leave or not. He has a contract that if he wants to stick around for, he will.

STAR ON THE OUTER?

Which big-name back on big dollars is proving a headache for his club?

He's showing that he's not to worth the massive deal he was given and the club is looking to offload him - either to England or a rival NRL club.

It's not his behaviour or attitude that is an issue - more the fact that he leaks points at an alarming rate.

But to get him off their hands, the club would have to pay a significant amount of his lavish contract for the next couple of years.

Homecoming for Dom?
I’d love him back but i seriously doubt the club would be able to sign him unless it was on a heavily subsidised deal

If it was Dom I highly doubt the club would take him back. We got Schiller and Marz. And we have the likes of McCarthy, etc as backup.

I wouldn’t have him back, not because he left Newcastle in search of a better offer. The NRL is a business, and financial decisions are made all the time that upset some fans and excite others.
Good luck to him .
I just think he overachieved at the Knights, and is not the quality winger the Roosters thought he was, especially with no Manu and Keary feeding him the passes and kicks like Gags and Ponga used to. I think theRoosters have realised they payed overs for a Ferrari and while they put E10 in it, it won’t run properly .

Imagine seeing THAT and thinking, “Gee you know what? He looks like a guy I’d love to take a bullet and win premiership’s for!”

I doubt babies haven’t been eaten for breakfast at his table.
