Raiders sack Carney

THE Canberra Raiders NRL club has sacked halfback Todd Carney.

Club chief executive Don Furner said the board had deliberated this morning following a series of off-field behavioural issues with the representative halfback.

"The board decided they had had enough," Furner told reporters.

Just drives players like him away. Unfortunate though, but he's had his chances.

Really, hope we dont loose him from the NRL, he was a good player.
Maybe if a club signs him, they put him in lower grades until they think he might have got his act together, cause he may have learnt after being sacked.

Also, just on his conference about it, he didn't seem to care much. Maybe happy to be out of Canberra afterall.

A sacking in season 2008 would've been fair enough. He could've looked for a club elsewhere for next year.
ESL might pick him up now, Gallop didn't seem to care at all - "If he goes elsewhere, then so be it".

Well at the time of Neil Henry signing with Cowgirls for next year, Carney said if he knew Henry was leaving he wouldn't have signed the multi year deal that he signed only weeks before.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to get himself in trouble to get out of his contract, though it's also pretty naive to assume something like that.

I guess he's had his chances. But way, to drive the players away Gallop! Ridiculous. We should do all we can to keep him in the NRL, not de-register him.

yeh he is a player with tremendous talent and still has enormous potential . bad move by mr gallop although i think he is doing a good job

It's Canberra's decision to sack him (probably the correct call, I reckon, they have given him last chance after last chance), why is the NRL adding to his punishment?

By sacking him, Canberra accept that he will in all likelihood come back and play against them in future. I just don't know where Gallop is coming from with this one?!?! He's driving a player from our comp, and one of our best future stars at that.
