PNG set to become 18th NRL team

But they will be making an offer of, get this:

$9 million

over, get this:

5 years.
Forgive my ignorance on this, but is the proposal that the players will pay zero income tax?

So $9 million over 5 years ($1.8 million per season) would be equivalent to $3.35 million per season here in Australia?

Board keeps on changing, no actual football staff or coach to my knowledge?

Considering they can start recruiting in 8 months WTF are they doing.

Have the even confirmed a site let alone building for the compound yet?

I can honestly see this sh!!!t show falling over before it begins.

They have a side in the Qld cup and have also sent a group of players off to play and train fulltime for the London Broncos

It's my understanding that the PNG government is about as stable and well run as Wests Tigers so, yes, it would not surprise at all.

It seems like Willie Peters will agree to become the inaugural coach of the team. If I’m his agent I’m telling him to wait around to see what the market is like rather than to agree to coach a team without a roster or any close to being ready for competition.
As a coach I guess you do get a big say in who you want and he will probably be the most qualified person there already to recruit and scout players.

Assuming he is the son of the agent, used to work at the Bulldogs, very weird connections there...
