Players to look out for

Interesting to see that Jeremy Maa was selected in the CHS under 15s side.
That means the giant kid who was our top tryscorer in our very good Mathews side till he missed the last few games through injury has another year in Mathews.
Pretty much all his tries this year were scored by him running at the centres or wingers and carrying 3 or 4 of them over the line. He was slightly smaller than Jarome Wilson, but he was also far more mobile and played much longer minutes.
So he is 15, 190cm or so, nearly 100kg by the look of him, very fit, very strong, very mobile and also smart enough to go to a selective high school.

So far they have only used two kids from the SG Ball squad in the NYC team - Pete Mata'utia who has been a star on the rise for years, and Zane Tetavano, who is one of the Kiwi forwards we picked up for Ball this year. He represented NZ u16s a few years ago, and last week i thought the 17 year old was as good as 18 year old Schirnack who i have huge wraps on. He is a tall, rangy second rower who put in plenty of work and even made line breaks and off loads.
He has another few years in NYC and is already looking like one of our best after two games.

Its a damn good one I must say.
 
Well Sione Tovo is a massive islander prop in our under 20's side. He is my favourite player in that side so i'm probly a bit biased but he is a wrecking ball when he gets the ball. I hope he plays first grade for us one day.
 
We have quite a number of quality young players at the moment, it is a shame they are not getting it done in the NYC. But Callan Richardson stands out for sure, Jarred Edwards is good too, and Joel Edwards has his moments. Scott Dobbins is a tough looking hombre who plays not unlike Simmo...Ryan Stig is quality and Sione Tovo can be awesome.
If they harness their potential then look out!
In the NSWC I like the look of Uate, Sau, Ling, Laban and Gordon and older players White, Finefuiaki, Young and Taufua.
 
Tetavano has a bit about him. Williams is scoring plenty too but I guess they would be 'smokeys' in regards to promotion to the NSWC or NRL. Still, let's hope they keep up the good work.
