Phoenix Crossland discussion

Radley's was so much worse when it comes to technique and potential to hurt someone and he gets a slap on the wrist, he should in no way be playing if Crossland isnt..
Crossland also go sent off which means the team got punished as well and I doubt they took that into consideration at all.
The judiciary has been a lm absolute joke for a number of years now and it will continue to be a joke. I
 
The NRL’s counsel implored the judiciary to protect players and to send a “very serious message” because tackles like this one can’t be tolerated.

This **** does my head in, when you say this your no longer talking about the current incident and the trial becomes about something much more. Obviously this isnt the first time they have done this but every time they have done it I just get so annoyed and angry about it, those conversations are for the off season or for greater powers in the game not some small panel of people wanting to feel good about them selves..

Sounds like he’s been struggling with it. Hopefully the boys can include him and make him feel part of the week and he can enjoy it.

It’s obviously weighing on him a lot.
Hopefully a bit of relief now that he’s got his punishment and can move on.

Apparently called Nathan, and called
Ivan too and apologised to the family. Everyone has shown some class in this - except the NRL.

It was a long shot. But he’ll have to wait for his GF week next year.
 
Does Holbrook now have to name a replacement ASAP or can he wait until the hour before kickoff before making an official decision?
 
I don’t know if it’s written in the rules but there is no doubt the resulting injury plays a massive part in determining the outcome of the penalty. Is that right or wrong?

Victory Radlys, and most hip drops for that matter are the same tackle with varying degrees of how bad they are.

Radleys was the same if not as bad as Crossland’s but because Herbie gets up to play, it’s penalty, on report and then a fine. Is that ok?

If Cleary doesn’t get severely injured, it more than likely would have been the same outcome.

Initially I thought that’s **** Crossy gets 4 weeks, he gets off. But what if it was the other way round?

Thats assuming nz run the risk of only carrying 22 instead of 23 players for the group stage. Real chance they dont pick him at all, depends how much they think he can influence the side come the final i guess.

I was trying to think if the one Dom did in Manly resulted in any sort of injury? I don't think it did? I might be wrong? He still copped a week.

It's a fine line when you send someone off for a hip drop when you never have in the past when it's resulted in a serious injury...That's where fans get frustrated.

With only a 24-man World Cup squad and the availability of Jeremy Marshall-King and Brandon Smith I daresay Phoenix won't make the cut for NZ anymore.

Very tough for him to miss both a Grand Final and a home WC.

I think Youngs one did cause an injury. But Frizell also got a 1 game suspension the same game for a very innocuous one didn't he.

He might have gone off but I don't think he missed time if I recall. In that case it may be fair game. I think teams may take advantage of the free interchange to I guess.

But it still doesn't change the fact others have been seriously injured as a result of hip drops and the perpetrator did not get sent off in that case...

I wouldn't underestimate the esteem he's held in in the Kiwis set-up.
