Official NSW team game 2

Well although it'd probably help out Uate, it really isn't his job. He's great at something he's not meant to be doing. The blame is solely on the forwards for doing jack all. That being said, I'd let him at it, seeing as nothing is working. If we have to win unconventionally, so be it.
 
I've been meaning to ask - What is everyone's thought's on the decision to give Todd Carney a penalty instead of a penalty try?

Yeah definitely fair. Slater was flying through and it wasn't a 99.9% chance of him scoring. Had he not been held back i think he probably would have scored, but the key word is probably, not definitely.

Definitely has nothing to do with it - you can never be 100% sure a try will be scored, the player could have a heart attack and die!

The rule is that "the referee may award a penalty try if, in his opinion, a try would have been scored but for the unfair play of the defending team."

So it was the video ref's opinion that Carney wouldn't have scored if not for Cronk's ten metres worth of holding back. I can't believe that for one second, Carney was delayed so much, he would definitely have got there first, given in the end Slater only beat him by centimetres. Should have definitely been a penalty try.

That would have meant no sin binning though - in the end, NSW ended up getting more advantage from the sin binning, because they put 14 points on in that time.

It was also a terrible call that Queensland didn't get a line drop-out when Jennings hit the ball out of Tate's grasp with ten to go.

Some shoddy officiating in that game, once again.

I'm not clear on the rule book, but the commentators were under the impression that Slater made all the difference in the world. I think the phrase i'm looking for is 'beyond reasonable doubt'. None of the refs thought Carney would have scored, the ball itself bounced pretty high etc etc. Impossible to tell and even if QLD won, I'm happy with the call.

It wasn't a drop out because Jennings hit Tate's arm/Tate's shoulder and not Tate himself.
 
Nah, Jennings hit the ball, Bill Harrigan has said it was the wrong call not to award Queensland the line drop-out. He said it should have been a penalty try, too.

If you're not clear on the rules then I don't know how you can even comment on the ruling?
 
Wondered how they got away with a 20m restart for the Jennings knock out, don't see how it would of been a penalty try though, why can't he knock the ball out if he's going for a try?

I know the general ruling, but if you ask me to quote the rule book you're going to get me into some trouble. Just like many people know you can't pass the ball forward, but many will not know the specificity of 'it can propel out your hands backwards and float forwards' etc.

Well anyway, despite the debate, as a New South Welshman, even if we had lost and we had not scored the two tries, I still wouldn't have been that peed off with the decision.

Just saw the Jennings hit. Yeah he did knock the ball. Mah bad. Karma I guess, for game 1.

No no, the penalty try was for when Carney was held back. The Jennings Tate thing should have been a line drop-out.
 
Im glad it wasn't a penalty try tbh. Cost them more points with the sin bin then the penalty try would have
 
How good is it to see NSW not being held back by crap props anymore. Grant was outstanding in his debut for NSW.

Grant, Tamou and Woods are great young props that be in the blues side for a very long time.
