Official: Knights sign Kalyn Ponga on a 4 year deal

Honest views? You've hated him since day dot and Cowboyman is butthurt that he's leaving his side to come here. Pretty hard for either of you to offer an unbiased opinion.
I've said it before they are the same dude ( or girl) . Watch how they chime in together during threads at perfect timing, similar language and tone. 88 is Cowboyman.

Lol 88 is not Cowboyman, Cowboyman has been around for years, he's an old Knights fan that likes to keep up with the team, 88 has only been around for a year & is a former Knights reserve grader, he comes from Zero Tackle, was one of the regular Knights commenters over there.

Actually, funnily enough, when 88 first arrived his sentences were appalling, could barely understand what he was saying. We've all come together to collectively improve the standard of 88's posts.

They aren't the same dude, dude!

Bit far apart Townsville and Belrose Heights.

You have one or two options cowboyman. Get over losing Ponga or sit with your arm around Greenie and cry all night!

Sorry if you are referring to beau as he is a little sir echo of the one whose name is unmentionable.

??? Not a fan of honest views chief?
I love honest views 88! All cbm does is grandstand and hijack threads with irrelevant cowboy talk, this thread excluded obviously. The only reason you align yourself with him, is because you both love causing drama and talking schitt. Most on here just want to discuss the knights and not worry about the irrelevant sideshows created by certain people.

Just ignore them if you don't like what they're posting. You can actually block posters so their messages aren't even visible to you.

Back on topic please.

I'm personally not even bothered how Ponga plays this year, just can't wait for him to arrive next year!

Did catch a little bit of the game last night and saw him drop a sitter of a bomb though. :o Plenty for him to work on before he arrives, I guess.

All ive ever stated is that he is a kid and that others should not expect him to be our knight in shining armor as a kid..... he has plenty to learn and will learn over the next 18mths or so.

Ive also stated that it is great for his development to of stayed in QLD this yr to get another yr of learning and growing as a player before coming here to be bombarded with the media hype and fans expectations of him.

His going to be brilliant one minute and average the next.... his a kid ffs.

Sorry if those views brake peoples spirits!!! but its a true view not a dream opinion

No doubt about all that. See Jarrod Mullen for an example of what the pressure of being the Knights saviour at a young age does.

Gonna take plenty of time for him to reach his potential.

Its great to have such a tallent coming to the club, and i cant wait to see him grow into the player ( we hope ) he will become...
Most of my chit talk has been with @Kenny Powers as his a good guy to have banter with...

I didn't watch the game, but it sounds like it was a good learning experience for Ponga. Glad he is learning his fullback lessons and it isn't costing us at all.

Yep said that only last week, the more he learns while costing another club the better it is for us!!

I love that his learning behind JT as well as whom better to learn where to be or when to run then him?

Biggest issue with Mullen is that every coach kept switching him between 5/8 and halfback which never helped him get any proper rhythm as to what his true role was. His best times at Knights were when he stayed at fight eighth and for the first time in a long time when Hodkinson was signed for last year he was able to permanently be a 5/8.

Ponga, I imagine will play fullback and only fullback for the foreseeable future. Which will help a tonne.

Ponga is an 18 year old who debuted at FB last week. I think its mostly an irrelevant criticism to point out his lack of involvement--it should go without saying. These things come with fitness and experience. Though i do have to say that his style looks passive, as opposed to aggressive with regard to his involvement. More of a Hayne, less of a Barbar

I watched him closely, in fact I watched only him. He played well for a rookie and really well for an 18 year old. What he does he makes look easy. He was always where he needed to be in defense and attack. Granted JT helps him get organized in attack and seemingly loves having him on the field using him as often as possible, probably telling him where he wants him etc

His ball skills are as good as any kid. He will be our most skillful ball player when he arrives next year

For all the armchair experts.

How many fullbacks have never dropped a high bomb? Billy Slater reasonably often, Changa from time to time and I even saw Churchill drop one (once). Give the kid a go and the more he drops this year the better. He will learn at the Cowgirls expense.

I don't recall anybody saying he was **** in the game, or no good as he dropped that ball.

What I liked from his game was every time someone made a half break, ponga was there in the wings waiting for the offload.

No matter what people's expectations are so high of Kalyn that if he has a bad game they're gonna pounce all over him and say that he's a waste and moving to the Newcastle was a mistake but when he has a blinder people will say he's the best signing we've made. That's the reality of being one of the biggest talked about prospects coming through the grades.
