Tpa not getting paid and klem not happy. Dogs either let him go or face potential legal dispute about promised tpa.
Maybe this is why Klemmer hasn't done anything about it , besides ask a couple of times for a release because it would cost him. Having to take the club to the courts and he is already down an unpaid Tpa lol.

I see what you mean now, but I too had the impression you were saying the Dogs shouldn't even ask the question. They hold the contract so why wouldn't they try to gain something out of it. The Knights don't have to do ****.

Generally the loser pays the legal fees in court cases dont they? My guess is he is not going to court as he knows he will get released and doesn't need to go that far.

Plus, whatever happens he was at the dogs a long time, supporter as a kid, he may not want to drag the club through the mud on his way out.

Starts out amicably, then when decisions around who gets what are on the table things get messy. The only guaranteed winners are solicitors.

From the outside there's no way Klemmer can stay at the dogs under the current environment. They may make peace and he could end up back there one day. Classic example is Dessie and Manly.

Personally, I can't wait to see him here, but only if he wants to be

I said the whole time we won’t as he has asked for release not the knights asking for the player!

Pretty sure old Klem will be pretty happy with the extra coin
 
Money may not buy happiness but it sure helps.

It's just reality, these blokes have 10-12 or so years to make their money. No chance rugby league is setting them up for life never having to work again.

That's 4 or 5 contracts to secure your coin and make as much as you can.

Simples.
 
That line is so overused and borderline irrelevant now. Most players are now doing degrees and trades while playing the game that they still go into the workforce after their rugby league career has ended.

It’s just an easy cop out for a player leaving his current team. Which is fair enough you earn as much as you can but seriously just state it like it is instead of use the whole short career and look after my family bollocks.

Besides an average nrl player that lasts 10 years on 200k is still sitting very pretty. If you don’t have a house or two nearly payed off after that then you’ve done something seriously wrong. Let alone the top players on high wages plus rep payments of 30k a game.
 
Anyone who can earn $300,000 a year for ten years should never have to work again.

Only condition is they must have half a brain and not splash their cash. So that rules out NRL players.
 
I for one would never knock a player for taking more money, as I said it’s easy for the punter in the stand to tell someone to take less money when it doesn’t effect them.
 
It's the large money, $300k plus average, over 10 years That the can set themselves up, property, business etc where the average worker will take 30 years to earn while paying of loans etc. they have to make it while they can to set themselves up for after football, not all very good footballers are going to get jobs in media etc.
 
If I could get double my money for the same job at a nice work location in Klemmers case closer to family I'd be on it in a heart beat. Who wouldn't.

I'm sorry are you agreeing with me here? I said Rugby League won't set a player up for life never having to work again, you seem to be agreeing with this sentiment.

So your point is that a player shouldn't say he is leaving for the money, short career, looking after family etc, and should say it like it is, that he is leaving for the money?
 
It’s one of those things a player can’t say “I’m just going for the money” the fans will hate him especially the ones if the club he was going to lol
