Official: Knights sign David Klemmer for 5 years

Yes so see point 1, he poisons the rest of the squad. Have you ever been in a workplace with someone who didn't want to be there?

You think the Dogs dig their heels in, cost him the opportunity at lets say a million bucks over the next 2 years, and he just turns up to training with a smile on his face?

Mate have you ever been in a team sport where everyone gets along? Rarely, rarely, rarely occurs.

This whole player A could poison the playing group is bollocks. He will have close mates and then not so close guys on the team. That’s not going to change during a contractual disagreement with the club.

But yes I’ve worked in hospitality where every second person doesn’t want to be there

Right well let's frame it another way... have you ever been in a workplace where everyone does get along and is pulling in the same direction? It's a powerful thing.

Commiserations for your miserable working conditions, that must suck.

Yes so see point 1, he poisons the rest of the squad. Have you ever been in a workplace with someone who didn't want to be there? The RLPA absolutely could and would get involved if the Dogs annexed him from the rest of the squad (which is the stipulation I said that you totally ignored).

You think the Dogs dig their heels in, cost him the opportunity at lets say a million bucks over the next 2 years, and he just turns up to training with a smile on his face? It's not practical or manageable. The best thing they can do is amicably part ways at no loss to themselves, which is what they're trying to do.

There’s a difference between what the Dogs can legally do and what they morally might do. Commonsense suggests you’d release someone like that for the reasons you mention. That said, because they can hold him to his contract, they could use it as leverage for something in return. Hence why we wait for a release, which is fair for them to decide whether to give or not IMO.

Of course, agreed. However, there's clearly an internet argument that must be won here. Common sense counts for little in these waters.

Ok yes cowboyman, the Dogs are fully entitled to dig their heels in and just keep him to his contract. That would work out great for them, internally at the club - externally in the media - it would be a great thing for them to do. Hell, makes you wonder why Klemmer has been allowed to negotiate with other clubs really. What morons.

So if you "can't have an out clause" how is it assumed he does? I call that a pretty fair argument.

I’d call that journalists coming up with a story actually. They’re not always on the money. All I’m saying is it doesn’t add up that Klemmer would have requested multiple releases if he could otherwise unilaterally terminate the contract for a breach. If you’re right then I’m sure we would have announced his signing by now.

Surely it doesn't matter wether legally or illegally Klemmer is free to move or not, contract binding or failure to meet contract the fact seem, yes seem to be not necessarily so, that he wants out due to failure to pay due payments and/or family/personal reasons, the bottom line is if he wants out he will get out for what ever reason and move to another club, at this point favourite is Knights, if the ploy is something else such as "show me the money" he might stay because that's his home.
It all boils down to where he wants to go based on financial and family reasons and if that's us then great if not then I hope he is happy with what he gets.
Me, I hope it's us but will wait, hope and see.

Honestly, I think it’s because of their cap. From memory, Toohey reported that the Knights know of at least one club who needs to offload players before next year. I suspect it’s either Dogs, Eels or Manly (or all of them). Makes you wonder how Des let them get to that level. The Dogs will be going through what we did post-Bennett, but worse.

The Bulldogs have said, Klemmer needs to make the decision. Maybe that's what they mean?

Getting rid of someone who is providing double their value under your cap isn't a smart way to alleviate cap stress. The ~$500k they have Klemmer on is a pittance.

Who would you take otherwise? Foran? Agreed regarding commerciality, but they’re pretty desperate and Klemmer is an easy sell.

I personally wouldn't take anyone, but they have shed a hell of a lot already... I'm not particularly buying that they're still under a tonne of cap stress. Honestly if I were them I'd just cop the penalty from the NRL if it came to it before releasing Klemmer. Of course assuming you could keep him happy.

Klem thing isn't difficult to get.

Above the table Tpa are nothing to do with club, nothing to see here sir.

Under the table the dogs have lined up the tpa specifically to supplement klems wages.

Now, tpa not getting paid and klem not happy. Dogs either let him go or face potential legal dispute about promised tpa, NRL get involved to investigate the salary cap implications and the dogs dont want that.

Ever wonder why the NRL never catches any salary cap cheats by themselves? Cos they dont care, it's only the whistleblowers that get it out there leaving the NRL no choice.

Maloney stupidly says he is waiting on the club to arrange his tpa, nrl investigates. Foran having tpa dispute with manly, nrl investigate, resulting in manly sanctions.

Dogs do not want that. Yes, the dogs may be able to legally hold Klemmer to his contract, but they would be stupid to do so.

Which is why Knights said no trades. They know dogs have a losing hand here. Given how desperate we are for a player like klem, if there was any chance the dogs can force the contract I think you would find them more agreeable to a trade of some sort.

doesnt he just want to get out of sydney end of story no player trades they got cogger and meaney also isnt the bulldogs salary cap shagged are they even cap compliant next season how can they sign players

I find it funny that for the past week its been Klemmer wants out.

3 days ago it was a 3rd party dispute.

Now he has a clause in the contract to leave.

I bet that clause is due to said 3rd party not coming to the table.

Just a hunch though

You are thick for thinking the Bulldogs wouldn’t ask for a trade. They hold the power. They can easily dig their heels in and not release Klemmer if they don’t find a replacement for him.
Mate you are a moron I said we won’t I didn’t say that the dogs wouldn’t ask!
