Official: Knights sign Connor Watson on a 3 year deal

If Wests want to spend a lot of money on a really top coach and pay out Brown's contract, no one should spare a minute worrying about him.
Head coach is a game where you get good money, but no job security
My only real issue with Brown is that it is now clear that he can't attract big name signings. If Wests can sign a coach that can, they should.

C'mon Billy, you should be able to realize that any team that's had 3 wins in 2 year is going to struggle to sign imports. Unless they have a big name coach.

Tell that least successful bit to Parra, Warriors, Titans, Canberra.

I think you'll find Member, we're somewhere around the bottom 4 of wins in the last decade. And that was before the horror run of the last 2 years.

To add on, that's probably just because we've been consistently average for years. We haven't really been a perennial loser until recent but we haven't reached any real heights either, most other teams have had some good years in that time.

For the first time Joshhh we can be confident in Brown's and Mooney's recruitment. Ese'ese would be brilliant, and for mine if we get Watson, halves Watson and Phythian.

A spine of 1 Ponga 6 Watson 7 Cogger 9 Levi, 14 Starling would have some running in it.

Cogger ran for over 100 metres as a halfback last week, Starling regularly runs for over 100 metres as a hooker, Levi has as well. The biggest problem is that they would all be calling for the ball all game.

Let's not put so big a wrap on new signings, Watson for example, let them come settle in, play best they can and appreciate, we don't want to make a Mullens out of a Watson

Ponga at fullback, Levi at hooker, Maloney at halfback and Watson at pivot. My god there is some points in that combination. Brown and Mooney must make it happen.

Our forwards competed with one of the best packs in the NRL tonight, add Guerra, Ese Ese, Latu and a few other high quality forwards and we're a contender in 2018. Not competitive or thereabouts but a legitimate premiership threat. I've literally got half a mongrel at the prospect of what we could do next year.

Looking forward to next year already, even without Maloney. If we get Watson, and Ese'ese is announced, plus at the minimum 1 workhorse prop, hopefully two, next year will be Browns year to prove himself or lose his spot.

If he gets these signings, I'd say he has half the year to show what he can do, or there will be pressure on his position like he hasn't faced as yet.

Mozza , I agree but be careful you don't climax too early, we have assembled a reasonable roster, Brown is no dill and realises that after the pain comes pleasure, but he needs to provide the right environment and team culture to allow them to compliment each other's skill set and flourish.
We should be excited yes , based on last night alone, SKD made an immediate positive contribution and when Chanel was hurt showed maturity to assemble the troops and refocus . Guerra worked hard across the field, topped the tackle count and ran over 100m , but what impressed me most was at the half time break in the sheds he appeared to be laying down the law to the team - 2 really experienced leaders at work, exactly what we need moving forward.

Do we have the room to make a near $1m play now that Watson is here? Signings are starting to add up, add to re-signing those on smaller deals which dont count for much but still add up as well.

Has Watson been confirmed yet ?
When Brown is asked directly he throws up red herrings about him having to be released etc, but that would be because it isn't his place to announce signings in the middle of press conferences about games.
I think it's now one of those "worst kept secret" things.
