We got dominated in game one with four prop fowards, what the heck do you think is going to happen with two prop fowards for the whole game (one being on the bench for club level)? Gallen is a lock foward who is a complete waste at prop and about as tall as a 14 year old, even three props is NO WAY enough.

100% serious!!. Watmough is more then capable of playing prop aswell + ask any sharks fan about Gallen. they will tell you different. Gallen IS a FRF
 
Hoppa? Seriously? I thought we were building a team for the future? The guy is a good player but he is leaving the game for 2 years, so why pick him?

I still don't know why they put him at prop. It's a mental thing aswell, it sounds crazy but I reckon his preparation would change with a different number on his back. Not used to his name being that high on the roster.

I thought Snowden wasn't 100% up to it. Looked fairly lazy. Hopa at centre... I hope he proves everyone wrong and has a great game (out of position).

Seriously? Get a grip. Gallen is virtually a prop as it is. Now you want Jamie Lyon on the left side when he's retired from rep football and couldn't give a flying about origin football anyway.

Who else would you want to replace Jennings? Overated Idris who has done nothing for the past two months, again a right side player.

Sometimes I really do wonder with your posts.

Having only one prop on the bench... guys like Watmough, Lewis, Creagh, Gidley are more than capable of making metres and taking the ball up mid field.

Memo... the score was only 16 - 12 and guess where who was on the bench in the last 25 minutes of game 1...

Our 4 props.

Well given if Jennings is right for game 3 he will go back in, your best off picking the best player you can for game 2, and i guess they have.

Also they are saying Dugan could be gone for 2 weeks..does that mean Gids or Hayne will play FB?

They were having a conversation on the Sunday Footy Show today and they brought up the subject of Gallen doing too much. They also said that if he is making that many metres and hitups a game and yet he constantly finds himself in teams that don't win is there something wrong?

2. Hopoate
3. Gasnier
4. Idris
5. Uate

for me, unfortunately Idris is not a left centre which is a letdown. :doubt: But he did play there for Australia & scored a try so it could work? Either that or we bring in Morris or Ferguson which wouldn't be good options imo.
 
On the whole, this is an excellent team picked for NSW and we should win Game 2 at home.
Ricky Stuart has (correctly) realised that NO prop in NSW is as good as Scott, so he's put the best option we have in Gallen to do the hard yards up front - which he will.
I'm a little perplexed about the Hopoate selection though, considering he won't be here next year and he's not even a centre. But really, what other options do we have (Idris is too slow, and J. Morris is too sh*t).
I would have preferred to see Lewis in the starting line up ahead of Creagh, and TLL on the bench.
But still, it's a much better team than we picked for Game 1, and we should have won that despite the horrendous decisions we had go against us in that game.

NSW are never going to win having a 95kg fringe running second rower playing up the middle and getting dominated in the front row against the two best props in the world in Civenoceva and Scott! Go on and have a look at Sharks forever, at least 80% of them reckon Gallen is strictly a lock, he is far to small for the front row, especially on the origin arena, also take into consideration that we only have one prop foward on the bench aswell the workload is going to be huge!
 
Will Hopoate would have to be the quickest picked player in Origin ever surely?! Picked for State of Origin after 15 games of first-grade.... it's crazy stuff!

I wouldn't mind Gallen at prop so much if we had more than one FRF on the bench, the workload will be massive for him! Jarrod Croker from Canberra would be an alright option as Joey pointed out on the Sunday footy show, better than playing someone out of position who will be leaving the game next year anyway, so his selection is basically meaningless for a side trying to build for the future!
 
What does Gallen do differently to every other prop when he's got the 13 on his back? To say he's too small is ridiculous, it doesn't matter how heavy you are as long as you're making big metres, making tackles and putting dents in the opposition's defence, what more could you ask for? I am absolutely certain Gal will cause more damage than any other prop NSW have and the best thing is he'll more than likely play 80 minutes meaning there's no need for a 4th prop to rotate with him. I think this is the best Blues team Ive seen in a long time.

Gal will try his guts out and probably go great guns, just the lack of size and other prop fowards around him will be the downfall.
 
Honestly it annoys me how many people want to whinge at every NSW team that is named. We are all NSW supporters are we not? So why not start supporting the team instead of bagging every team they name. I am sure Ricky wouldn't name a team that he doesnt think would beat QLD.

How will it be different whatsoever. He'll still be running at the same people in attack and tackling the same people in defence.

As for the Hopoate thing, so many blind people have said it. Have any of you thought, hey Hopoate is replacement for Jennings you will be back in the side when he is recovered from his injury. How does picking it have anything to do with the future, there just covering an injury.
